Tiger football historians: how did Shyrone Carey’s career end?

Did he play his senior year? Doesn’t list stats for him on the 2005 lsusports.net roster. He was off to a great start in 2003, especially after his performance against UGA in Baton Rouge. He’s not talked about much as being someone who “could’ve been great” because the stable of backs behind him. I see he was hurt for a few games which sidelined him in ‘03, but he returned that season. He just didn’t play at all in 2005 or did he quit?

He originally signed with Tennessee and was part of arguably the best recruiting class of all time (2000) which featured five 5 star recruits and a TE by the name of Jason Witten.

Soooo am I old enough to be considered a historian if I know how Shyrone Carey’s career ended?
I swear he just played for LSU like 5 years ago right. Right guys? Right?

My memory of him is always thinking he contributed way more than he actually did. He made some big plays, but he had some really great backs ahead of him. Vincent, Addai, Hester, Green. He was always the third or fourth option.

I think he ran a kick back just last year.

I thought he missed some games because he sold his natty game tickets reserved for athletes

5 prospects in the top 30 of that recruiting class. The only ones I can recall are Mike Munoz and Casey Clausen.

Jabari Greer and Rashad Baker played in the NFL for years.
Hard to believe that Witten was only a 4 and not a 5 star.

Once he got hurt in ‘03, Justin Vincent took over and never looked back.

He played 20yrs too early. They put weight on him at lsu. He was the best HS player I ever saw when he was lighter at Shaw

It really bothers me that this was all over 15 years ago.

Career ended with him being heavy and a step or two slow unfortunately. Untouchable in hs, we packed weight on him for whatever reason.

Shyrone didn’t play much as after UGA game. I recall by the USCar game Vincent and Broussard had taken over the RB spot.

Lester is right, as usual
Shyrone in 2023 is a terror in the passing game. A lot of old heads say he’s the GOAT La high school player
