The way I view today's game

We struck out 17 times, had the weird baserunning thing, had the Catchers interference, and still had a chance to tie the game in the 9th. That's a sign of a complete team that can win regardless of mistakes. If the offense can become consistent again, we're gonna make a deep post season run IMHO.

Agreed. Mind you, Arkansas is a top 5 team in the country. I’m pissed at the loss but whatever.

My issue is their discipline. The constant errors, baserunning mistakes, and terrible at bats/strikeout numbers is very worrying

Skenes had a horrible inning and outing. This is on him. HBP and two walks in one inning.

Reminded me of game 1 in March and we almost won that game also. I believe Morgan had a base running error in that game as well.
They pitched their two top guys against us, they really wanted to beat us it seems like. hollan even said after the game it was the first time he’s come out of the bull pen since high school. If we meet them again they won’t be using their top guys in one game.

You play to win the game(s). Arkansas is a threat to LSU baseball in the western division. I know these next couple of days doesn’t change the seeds but damn I hate that smug Dave Van Horn. We need for Jay to continue getting top recruits.

He’s human. And he will flush it and come out throwing smoke in his next appearance at bet.

Damn how many excuses can you make in one post?

My biggest takeaway is Cooper looked outstanding. So far Hurd Ack and Cooper have looked great. I'm pretty pleased overall so far tbh. Hopefully those guys can carry that over to next week and beyond.

and terrible at bats
We struck out a lot tonight but how often do we have good at bats and work the pitchers and get the pitch count up, and eventually knock them out the game. You gotta realize these 2 pitchers are really really good. That’s not an average baseball team that we’re gonna see in a Regional or even a Super probably.

The way I view it is thank the the lord Van Horn pulled his pitcher early or we would have had 21 strikeouts because that dude out pitched our ace. Skenes had an off night. We struck out a lot and could not come up with the clutch hit even though we did get several hits. Field positioning especially with Dugas limited range has been a problem all year and so has base running blunders. The catchers interference was just bad luck at the wrong time. Even after all that we could have won the game.

Hate to take the pessimistic view but LSU should have won today’s game. Ark is an extremely average batting team and you gave it to them with a 5 run inning.
The margin for error is about to get tight quick, fast, and in a hurry. It’s time to stop giving away games.

Relying on HRs to overcome mistakes is not sustainable.
It keeps playing out this season over and over.
The situational baseball is lacking sorely.
Fundamentals of the game are not there.

When you gotta throw 5 strikes to the batter it fricks with you
The ump had a lot to do with how this game went

You aren't winning many games striking out 17 times.

Ditto re Van Horn. Such a prick.
