I wish someone would have asked Kim how surprised South Carolina lost

All year long she said that nobody was going to beat them and it sure looked like it to me too. I knew if Iowa had any chance that Caitlin Clark would have to have the game she did (41 pts). Iowa did us the biggest favor because South Carolina matched up really well against us.
I also know that’s why Kim was so emotional. She won in 2005 when she wasn’t supposed to. This year felt similarly. South Carolina was the best team all year long. Every small victory along the way opened the door for this moment. Very happy for the ladies, and the way our bracket set up was actually ideal in hindsight

Yep, that’s the point. If LSU shot like that they would easily beat South Carolina, too.

You can only play the teams that are good enough to advance to the next level.
If LSU was going to shoot 54% from the field and 65% of their threes against South Carolina, I think we were they had a pretty good chance of beating them too.

No team could beat LSU if they scored 102 points period.

quote:yeah, it didn't really matter if they played South Carolina or Iowa with the way they shot the ball in that game. They would have beat S Carolina shooting like that from outside. Smh I said earlier during the season that in order for them to beat a team like South Carolina that they would have to shoot well from the outside to open it up for Reese and Williams. Reese had no chance inside against their bigs as they stifled her!

LSU shot a ridiculous 77% from outside in the first half, no team would have a chance against that.

Which is irrelevant come sundown on April second.

The way they played, they would’ve beat the shite out of SCAR too. LSU is the real, true, and deservedly champions. No asterisk on this title.

The only team that could have maybe beaten us with how we played on Sunday was maybe stanford. Just because Stanford can shoot well and defend pretty well. But Kim would have had a way different game plan

You sure do know a lot about other peoples thoughts and emotions.

Kim was feeding rat poison to SC by calling them the greatest. She thought she might face them in the tournament and was working that angle in hopes of creating any advantage that she could.

That’s why you play the game

Here is a tale for you. I knew Kim’s father, Les Mulkey. We played softball on different teams. I am from Independence. We played Dixie Youth baseball in those days. I was a bit older than Kim. Anyway when Kim was 12 she played in the Hammond Dixie Youth league. An all star tournament was held in Independence. Kim was the shortstop for one of two Hammond team. The Dixie Youth District Director from Gonzales, Mr. Berthelot, disqualified her because of sex. He said girls were not eligible. Les hired my friend Ron Macaluso who was one year out of law school. The tournament was halted while a hearing was held. Kim was ultimately allowed to play. I wonder if she remembers any of that.

Any team can get hot at anytime. Iowa got hot against SC

Being all of the confetti was in South Carolina colors, pretty sure not a single entity expected them to lose. Tigers had other plans to win it regardless of who they faced.

I think Kim was just trying to motivate the Tigers and keep their spirits up after the SC loss.
Surprise! It worked.

They used the same generic colors for the confetti the whole tourney. It's just the NCAA cheaping out.
