The Bengals calling Arrowhead Stadium “Burrowhead” got me thinking about this but it comes up during every football season.

So for example Is this
A) Stupid for the Bengals to do this because the Chiefs will play this over and over in the locker room and get extra riled up for the game. Effectively saying that the Chiefs will win because of the Burrowhead comments

Or

B) it really doesn’t matter - they are playing for a conference title and a trip to the Super Bowl. If they needed something like “Burrowhead” to give them motivation then I’m not sure WTF they’re doing.

I fall in camp B - the people in camp A really are just concerned about a comment getting thrown back in their face if they lose.

Doesn’t matter. Either you’re waking up to play or not.

Example: Piss in their cornflakes. Proceeded by quite literally pissing in our cornflakes

I firmly believe If you need bulletin board material to get up for a game that if you win you go to the Super Bowl you’ve already lost the game.

It can be used for a little extra juice - but I don’t think it matters much for a game like this. However, look at last week where the bengals were extra motivated because I’d the neutral site game. And why would they need any extra motivation for that game? It’s human nature to be motivated by offense more than accomplishment for some people.

Where it will have some affect is the crowd. They will have a little extra juice, be harder to get them out of the game. Might matter. Might not.

Well also look at how the Bengals viewed the neutral site AFC Championship tickets being sold before their game was played.

I think it cuts both ways and the Bengals have owned the Chiefs enough to feel as confident as they’re talking.

Doesn’t affect the actual game but gives the chiefs a way to troll if the Bengals lose. Similar to how the Bengals trolled the Bills about getting their refunds.

I don’t like it, but also don’t think it will change the outcome. If the Chiefs win they will say it gave them extra motivation which is BS you’re playing for the Super Bowl

I would say it depends. If you look at Georgia, their staff literally manufactured "bulletin board material" to keep the team in that underdog mentality. Even when there literally was no bulletin board material for them but the staff manufactured it to keep the team motivated and in that us against the world underdog mentality.

If you look at The Bengals their entire team felt disrespected by the NFL for the way the entire post season seeding and coin flips and neutral site was handled after they canceled the Bengals and Bills game. They came out firing.

exactly - the Bengals might have been irritated because of the coin flip/ neutral site game but did that really matter in who won or lost?

It's just shite for the media to talk about before the game and fans to troll each other after the game.
