Brian's explanation in the post game interview tells me that anyone making that decision knew it was a 15 point deficit before the point after try or 2 point attempt.

They approached it as if they were down 22 points before the touch down.

It was an awful decision.

Made absolutely no sense. Someone said it was in case they kicked a FG it would still be only down two 8 point TDs. That’s a stretch since there wasn’t that much time

That's not the reason given though.

This was the absolute wrong decision and it's concerning moving forward.

The lack of time management with the use of timeouts (lack of use) was also just as bad.

Wasn’t the reason we lost and the decision wasn’t wrong and has a rational basis.

Does he understand no team has the upper hand in overtime. Why is he so scared to play in OT?!

I could make an argument that it completely threw off whatever little rhythm we might have been developing at that moment.

I'm a big analytics/math person... just saying to preface, but football has gone insane with very limited data. The rules have changed over time and very recently.

Only rationale I can make is that if you get it to 13 then it makes your decision to go for an onsides kick easier. With 3 timeouts your theory is that if aTm recovers it, they will not open it up and just kick a FG with their short field (now 16 pts up) putting you still at a 2-possession game. With that said, these new age analytics are questionable at best and we should have just kicked the extra pt to get it to 14.

This is what the people who pretend to be sort of statistical/analytical savants all seem to be missing. Or at least one of many things.
