After watching highlights and knowing the dumpster fire ASU under Herm is, I'm on board

Part of me thinks going with Daniels will indicate we're just not quite there with the offensive line for the coaches liking and will be counting on Daniels a lot to make something out of nothing. I know the clips are a small sample size, but he seems to be very decisive with his throws and has good anticipation, releasing passes before the receivers break. I feel the staff has a good plan if they feel Daniels is the best person to implement it, let's roll.
Plus, found this quote again from an anonymous Pac 12 coach on Herm. I think JD is in a much better environment now.

quote:
“This is the biggest dumpster fire in college football,” the coach said. “It is absolutely mind blowing that Herm is still employed, at least in the mind of the coaching community. Everyone knows it’s a ticking time bomb, but no one knows if it’s going off in a month or a year from now.
“They look like a mid-level SEC program when they get off the bus, and you start to see what they’ve been recruiting. Then you finish the game and it’s like playing a MWC team. They’re wildly inconsistent, they turn the ball over, they make mental errors, it’s all stuff that screams no stability. We’ve played them when they’re locked in and physical, and we’ve played them when they’re just not interested in being there.”

I agree. Take this upvote. Daniels will succeed in a good environment. This coaching staff will put him in the best position to lead this team. He has all of the tools.

They’re his highlights, of course. But he does have a lot of positive plays you can look at in there that shows his talent level. Good back shoulder throws. Elusive runner making plays on the ground. NFL scouts like him. And Kelly does too. And I trust those guys a lot more than I trust this board or my own eyes.

Herm has been able to keep his job for one reason, and one reason only.
Ray Anderson, the AD.
Herm was a client of Ray's back when he was an agent.
The ASU President, Michael Crow, has been instrumental in developing academics at ASU, but he needs to do a housecleaning on the AD-side of things. Anderson and Herm both needed to be gone a couple years ago.

Exactly. Yet people use this as an excuse to pump up JD and also never use it when destroying Max Johnson . Amazing what people use and forget for their arguments

This is true of both those speaking in defense of Daniels and those who are against him.

That was my comment towards another poster knocking Daniels. He was on a bad team coached by a bad coach except for his freshman year where they actually had come talent on offense. Give the kid a chance if he's earned it here.

Describes LSU the last 2 years. Nearly beat Bama and smash Florida yet still manage to lose to Mizzou and Auburn

Watching his film, you can tell he needs to tighten up his throwing motion, which
our coaches were on as soon as he got here. Everything else looked good
