Why not invite GT to the SEC?

Georgia Tech was a charter member of the SEC who left to become independent in the 1960's to become the "Notre Dame of the South". It didn't work out and they later joined the ACC. People make mistakes. Quality school with a culture that fits much better than Mizzou.

Because the SEC already owns the Atlanta market hands down. GT will never get an invite.

Its their fault they left the SEC. Georgia really doesn't want GT in and have an alleged agreement with some other schools to vote against GT coming in. Also GT wouldn't bring in any extra TV markets.

I think Georgia, Florida, SC, and Kentucky have a pact in place to prevent FSU, GT, Clemson, and Louisville from joining the SEC. Plus Vandy is voting against anyone being allowed in the conference. They wouldn't get the votes to be allowed in.
I don't see anyone leaving the ACC anyways, they are a conference that is expanding also. Plus I think they have a pretty high buyout to leave the conference also.

Unfortunately we don't bring in money to the SEC.

Most of us would rather stay in the ACC for both academic and competitive reasons. Since we are primariliy and engineering school and are smaller than most public schools, we are limited in our ability to recruit.

Tech is not a draw even in Georgia. This is a UGA state.

imo, the only schools worth poaching from the ACC are UM, UMd, or UNC for getting the S. FL, DC, or Charlotte markets

I'd say Auburn is even more popular in GA than GT.

Ga Tech would bring nothing.
