Why are people saying that OU and UT are a package?

What do they have to do with each other? Personally, I would love to have AM and OU. frick Texas. Let them go break up another conference. Anyways, why is OU dependent upon UT? Anyone care to explain?

When Texas bolts, what are the choices for OU? SEC or B10? I am not sure they have an offer to either. NU may have something to say about OU to the B10.

Oklahoma will follow whatever Texas does. Their recruiting in Texas is huge and depends on it. They've made a living recruiting in Texas for a long long time.

They might not be, but it is unlikely they would leave UT and State. If the PAC takes all three that makes more sense than following TAM to the SEC.

So they couldn't still do that if they came to the SEC?

What does that have to do with where Texas plays? The state of Texas produces a bumper crop of recruits year in and year out and only 25 can sign with Texas.

1) Oklahoma recruits Texas heavy and wants to play there and matter in Texas.
2) They want the Red River Rivalry to be relevant every year. Therefore they need to be in the same conference and this game be the turning point of each teams season.
3) Lots of Oklahoma alumni in Texas and Texas Alumni in Oklahoma City. 4) It just makes a lot of sense to them. Oklahoma would not be relevant if not for Texas.

Their roster is full of Texas players. '

The Red River Rivalry with Texas and the exposure they have gotten over the years have been the launching pad for everything that is Oklahoma football.

Prior to 1996 OU only played in Texas once a year, vs. Texas in Dallas. They still got the recruits because they were good.

Again, prior to 1996 they were not in the same conference and the Red River Rivalry was VERY relevant.

Saying OU would not be relevant if not for Texas is patently wrong. They'd be relevant in Conference USA.

You could not be more wrong.

Was just in Dallas/Fort Worth last weekend. Tons of OU stuff everywhere I turned. Outside of UT, Oklahoma dominates north Texas. It is comparable to the way LSU dominates the Houston market.

But they have only been in the B12 conference together for the last 15 years. Being in a different conference didn't seem to bother them before. OU is going where the money is, Texas has something brewing financially

You betcha...
The statements for the press were feelgoods.

With the Pac10 Commish in town next week to make the offers, the Aggies best not overplay their hand. If he thinks A&M is playing him for time while they try for the SEC, he'll head to Kansas.

shite happens, we all know that. If they don't have the Pac10 and the SEC falls through, it will be the Aggies and Baylor and K-state and Mizzou trying to salvage a conference.

OU has stated publicly that they are a package with Texas, that's why we think that. OU told us. I think they could survive in the SEC on their own, but they do not wish to take that risk. I'm fine with that. I'm sure they think Arkansas is a cautionary tale.
