We're talking about recruiting in Texas right?

my take on Texas recruiting is that I think it will benefit Arkansas, A&M, and LSU the most if A&M joins the conference. I think it will hurt Texas some (not to much) OU a lot more and Texas Tech a lot. I see this as a great opportunity for the SEC to make a big foothold in Texas.

This and you can add OSU who will take it up the chute on this move as well.

I think aTm joining would hurt border states like Arky and LSU but will help the entire SEC as a whole. If aTm becomes pretty good, why go to AR or LA if kids could stay in-state and still play SEC schools?

I think A&M will be stealing more recruits away from teams like OU,OSU,TCU,and TT. This Pac 10 move is going to hurt the big 12 teams but they can't live without being with UT. LSU will still have a huge impact on the Texas area plus getting more exposure playing A&M won't hurt.

I'm very skeptical on how aTm joining could possibly benefit LSU in recruiting. The union would benefit the SEC with the massive TV market in that part of the country.

I think its a win win right now for LSU anyways if A&M goes to the pac 10 or SEC. Mainly because of the other teams that recruit Texas are getting hurt with this pac 10 move. Like Mizzou, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and Kansas. The benefit with A&M joining is people being able to watch LSU play live in Texas.

Ditto, I'd love to make the trip to Aggieland every other year.

yes. If you played in the Big 12 and you are from Texas your family literally could drive to every game easily. Now you have very long plane trips to go play powerhouses like Stanford, washington, and Oregon State.

I'm thinking the Texas kids would feel compelled to root against LSU if this rivalry were to develop.

It also gets them a familiarity of how LSU is though. A lot of the athletes don't have a preferred school since birth like we did. The big goal with the best athletes is what gives me the best chance of making it to the NFL.

I have always maintained that for A&M, all we need is the right coach. Some schools could get the right coach, but don't have the ability to keep him. We do. And if the Sherman thing fails, we will certainly be a very attractive job for a coach with everything we have to offer.

Oh, and just to clarify on the myth that the Athletic department is broke, We were given a 16 million 0% interest loan from Robert Gates when he was the A&M President. There was no expected time table for repayment, and was looked at like a "gift" in the eyes of the AD. When Elsa Murano became president she viewed it differently. When she was ultimately ousted for not playing ball with the BMA's and GOB's (Big money Ags and Good Ole Boys) she called the Athletic Department on the loan.

It’s being paid off in 1.6 million a year increments

To Boulder 969 mi
To Columbia 1,094 mi

College Station to Boulder: 972 mi. Drive Time: 17 hours, 10 minutes

College Station to Columbia: 1035 mi. Drive Time: 17 hours, 19 minutes

I call that a wash. To get to Boulder you have to drive through the mountains in the end (which would be pretty dangerous in winter) or fly in (which is also dangerous in snow). So I'd go with South Carolina.

that whole argument is dumb anyway. So, USCe is130 miles further. You will go there once every 8 years or so..you will be making multiple trips further than that EVERY year in he Pac whatever.
