What happens to LSU schedule next year

Obviously Texas A&M comes on, I would assume we drop Fla, USC or Kentucky. As permanent opponent I guess we keep Fla. We probably keep UK as well to complete that home and away. I guess USC could be on chopping block.
The 4 non conference games are set so we would have to pay buyout fees if that is changed.
Depending on other conference realignment this could be a scheduling nightmare for ADs

I really think they'll drop the permanent opponents and keep the rotating games.

Why not drop Towson?
cause we're not playing 9 SEC games

i can't imagine the league dropping the perm opponent concept. wasn't that a major point in the original split into East/West divisions? I recall the most important series to protect on an annual basis being that of Tenn/Bama and UGA/Auburn.

With 13 teams in the conference, who knows how many SEC games we'll be playing. I'd love it. I'm sick and tired of paying these ticket prices for App State, Citadel, Troy, and now especially Towson. frick that.

Dropping Towson would sure hurt tigervision.

I remember that too. And, the LSU/Florida series has become bigger than both of those.

I think a lot depends on if they bring in another team right away and where that team comes from, east or west. I would hate to lose Florida right when they have softened up.
I love our battles with the Gators!

Does LSU and Arkansas still meet for the last game of the season? Or does a&m/Arkansas or A&M/LSU become the new final game?

I hope it switches to Texas A&M to close the season. The "Boot" rivalry has kind of been forced down our throat. It is a fun and exciting game, but they are less of a rival than about 3 other teams in the West.
A&M has that rivalry feel to it, always has.

I don't know about a standard for future years, but I'd like to shuffle the schedule to have LSU-A&M as the season opener in Houston at Reliant Stadium. I have been to both of the neutral site season openers the past two years and I thought the experience was incredible!
Yes.. I am being self-serving, but I think it would be a great way to re-ignite the rivalry, too!

who knows what happens. i am sure the conference office has people mapping out several different scheduling scenarios based upon the number of teams we invite and making sure not to jack up the current scheduling system as much as possible. i like the current schedule and hope for only 14 teams in total(A&M + one team put in the East) i don't really like West Virginia, but it appears we (i.e. the SEC) are limited in our options for a team that naturally would fit in the East.

Not necessarily to the old suits in the SEC and the powers who hold the cards. The SEC will never go against those four schools and get rid of those games.

I believe that it would be the "old guard" that values those games and be unlikely to change them...Isn't UGA/Auburn billed as the "oldest rilvary in the South"? The Tenn/Bama hate is second only to Bama/Auburn (in my opinion) i can't imagine the SEC gives that up.

Florida will always be LSU's permanent opponent. Why? The SEC offices are in Alabama, and all of their actions always favor Bama over LSU. LSU had a much longer history of Kentucky as a permanent opponent than UF but Surprise! Surprise! UF becomes our permanent opponent.

Towson, Idaho, North Texas...2012 murderers row right there.

It's not like we were worth a damn when they became our permanent opponent. At the time we posed no threat to Bama or anyone. You are reaching pretty far on that one.

Exactly what I was saying. Those are the two oldest rivalries, and frankly (not trying to start anything here) the four most tradition rich schools in the SEC from day 1, and more importantly, with more money than God. The SEC isn't going to piss all four of those schools off at once. Contrary to what LSU fans in tin foil hats choose to believe, it's not just about Alabama and the SEC offices being there.
