Yes, we're the cowards. That's why we're going to a much more difficult conference. We also still want to play them, which would arguably give us one of the most difficult schedules in the country (SEC West + Texas) every year if we were to do so. They're the ones who refuse to play us, which is fine, it's their choice.
YATZEE!

Its going to interesting to see if Texas really bitches out of the series and refuses to still play us. Our president already publicly stated that we want to preserve the rivalry, so the ball is in their court. If they do refuse, they better find someone marquee because homegames against TT, BU, KU, ISU, KSU, etc. are not going to excite the fanbase.
#1 "Bitches out"? Really? You are going to the SEC. Quit whining about Texas, please. Just go. We will never play again during the regular season in our lifetimes. I am thrilled with it. Go dominate the SEC.
#2 Thanksgiving Day games don't excite our fanbase. BCS games and National Title games excite our fanbase.

UH vs. UT will be an awesome rivalry for years to come.

Well, Texas is just being uppity. My new perfect year would be LSU in the BCSCG, with A&M getting the second BSC bid from the SEC... they meet Texas in the Sugar Bowl and skull frick them 60-0.

I'm supposed to believe ND will ignore the LHN?
ND was the first to sign a non conference TV deal. And now they'll give it up to replace TAM?
Ain't gonna happen.

They don't have to "give it up", and that's the point.
In the Texas/OU conference we aren't socialists, we don't care if you're a capitalist and want to go out and make your own money.

They would have to completely rework their current TV deal or give it up to join the Big whatever. The Notre Dame television deal is for all tiers (they don't really have second and third tiers at ND) and the Big XII already has a contract in place to show their first tier games on ABC. Unless they feel like sharing some of that money with the conference, other teams wouldn't get paid when they played a conference game against ND, which would be pretty messed up (although it's not like the conference isn't already dysfunctional).

1.) A&M has been trying to go but Texas and Baylor have been trying to pull every single string to get them to stay..
2.) So the fan base consists of nothing but bandwagon fans, tell me something I didn't know.

If by some fricked up, 1 out of 1 billion chance they added ND, I think it would actually drive a school like OU to look elsewhere. They don't need Texas and would probably be pissed if some fricked up revenue sharing collusion between those two went down

The Texas brass has been saying all of the politically correct things but in reality I think they are happy A&M has finally pulled the trigger. Texas has been looking for its on out to get away from Baylor and Tech without being the bad guy who sunk the conference and A&M just gave it to them. Now Baylor has been doing going nuts. Starr is desperate. I actually expected bigger fireworks from Baylor and their politicians.

I don't understand this. A conference with Texas, OU & ND is pretty solid. An obvious upgrade over the current Big 12. OU has always had aspirations for their own network - originally they had planned for it to kick off this fall. I too would be shocked if ND joins the Big 12 but if BYU and ND join & their networks can be integrated, the Big 12 suddenly becomes very stable. OU & ND & BYU are all too proud to cry.

I dont get that sense one single bit from the locals here...fans, brass, media, etc
Most are taking that same stance you are "you wanna go, well go then, I dont care"....yet it's all they can talk about and there's so much vitriol in their talk. People are upset. Most were already shaken by the weakened conference this year and unhappy about it. The local fanbase seems to grasp that this is only going to further weaken the state of the Big12 and the likelihood it will far apart. With no real viable replacements, UT fans are upset about this whole thing.

I agree to this. But I think that UT's timetable was to accomplish this in about 5 years or so - this forced situation is not at all what Belmont wanted. I think in terms of the Longhorn's viewpoint, this is bad timing

Texas fans feel defensive, that is for sure. Longhorns are sick of being painted as the bad guy. Everyone knew the LHN was coming although aggies like Bill Byrne publicly said it was impossible. OU & Nebraska were developing their own networks too. Now that the LHN is here, everyone is acting like Texas pulled a fast one.
As far as the integrity of the conference, Texas will be fine. I personally hope we go Big 10 or Independent or Pac 16 (in that order) but a Big 12 with Texas and OU will always be legit.

well, you guys sort-of are.
I realize it may difficult for you to see, but from an outsiders viewpoint, you have the most arrogant, entitled, cocky attitude I have ever witnessed. And quite frankly, it's unsubstantiated. So, when you do things like the LHN, it just piles on to more of the same crap that causes people like me to dislike your fanbase so much. After 2 years of Cain & Abels, I wanted to skulldrag virtually every one of you. It's an attitude that permeates throughout your entire fanbase and it's not cool.
in layman's terms....people are just tired of your shite

I think so as well, I just think this move by A&M has rattled their timetable a bit

meh, that's debatable....I personally think you need a bit more power at the top than just those 2

If the SEC goes to 16(Which I doubt they will)then the Superconferences will become a reality and ND will join a conference. This I know is true,it will not be the Big Ten or Big East we will join. So that leaves the ACC and Big 12. IMHO it will be the Big 12 because we can hold on to our NBC contract and open up Texas recruiting.

A conference with Texas, OU & ND is pretty solid.

Has there been any peep out of ND on this?
