I've been expecting them to back off. Even in the PAC 16 they won't be the biggest fish in the pond. They realize that the only way to stay the bully on the block Is to keep big 12.
Big 12 will pick up TCU and someone else and go back to the way it was.
I could actually see this being the end result. I think Texas was caught off guard by A&M and OU stopping to flirt with the SEC. They expected to be followed like the Pied Piper. Now that this mass exodus isn't the slam dunk it appeared to be, the Big 12 could start striking deals and making promises with the remaining 10 to try and save the conference. They should've contacted TCU already. Maybe even go after BYU if the Pac-10 keeps targeting Utah.

Texas is backing off the PAC 16 deal. Texas started this crap by raiding the coffer of the Big XII. So after being bent over from a kick in the nuts by Nebraska, A&M comes along and puts a Corps of Cadets EEE up that Longhorn arse. If the Aggies have an SEC invitation then I highly recommend you take it because it is the first, and maybe last, chance you will ever have to move from their shadow. Texas is the bad guys and everyone knows it. If they get an SEC invitation then Mike Slive should be ridden out of town on a rail. I don't want those tea sipping fruit cakes anywhere near the SEC.
humm i did not know that a 1-11 vote was all that was required the raid the big 12 coffers. I always figured that it took four votes total to block anything in the big 12... and 9 votes to push something through.... I guess you learn something new everyday.

The deal was made when the conference was created. Other teams got sick of it.

humm so Texas blocked a change with our one vote? Like i said earlier, i did not know that was allowed. I always figured that it took four votes to block something in the big 12...
Like i said, i guess i learned something new. Thanks RhodeIsland for informing me of this rule. You are a very smart state and know a lot about big 12 bylaws.

Texas comes to the Big10.
no economic sense. Nebraska is contiguous with two B10 teams.
Tex is 1000 miles+ from some B10 schools, and all the non-football programs will lose money with all that travel.

I'm glad you've learned because it's an important lesson. Notice all the UT arm twisting that's going on in the current situation. I've heard TAMU threatened with "We'll never play you again in any sport and neither will any of the teams that come to the PAC", and I've heard that if TAMU somewhere other than with UT that they could be hit financially or by the legislature. So yeah, one vote to 11 is meaningless when you put a gun to someone's head. None of these things would be a problem if UT came to the SEC, but their pride keeps getting in the way. Just remember, pride goes before the fall...

They already lose money genius. Its pretty simple math really, if revenue increases more than cost, than its not a problem.

It only makes sense for Texas to threaten A&M is A&M moving to the SEC hurt UT financially. So unless the Pac 10 backs off with out the Aggies or something like that, it won;t hurt Texas, so it makes no sense for them to threaten A&M's funding, which I would guess would be vetoed by the current Gov, call it a hunch.
If you are a legislator in suburban Dallas, or west Texas. Why would you vote to cut spending at A&M just because Texas is mad the Aggies are doing something on their own? That would be really good to run on next election cycle.

Merely commenting on the intimidation I've heard H-Town.

i've heard the same things, nothing credible. I'm merely pointing out why it would makde no sense. People like to believe in conspiracies and stuff like that, when most of the time its silly.

Agreed, but just because it is baseless does not mean it can't affect public opinion.
