Well, if we live in a what have you done for me lately world then why is MSU, Kentucky, and Vandy still in the SEC?

Wouldn't you say that A&M is better and has been overall for a long time?

I just hear a lot of boasting from the ATM faithful every year

Where and from who? People might be boasting this year because we look good and have high expectations, but anyone boasting about recent history is an idiot, and I haven't seen anyone trying to boast about the last 10 years of our football program. We've been terrible and it's been the biggest dry spell in our program's history.

As you can see, the 60's and 2000's were not very kind to us.

jackson, nobody is claiming that A&M is elite right now. But there are certain ingredients needed to be elite and A&M has the ability to have them all

Ingredients
- Coaches
- Facilities
- Student Support(are you a football crazy school)
- Alumni Support (will they donate money for coaches, facilities, etc)
- Support from the Administration (will they help the student athletes)
- Recruiting (can they recruit, are they in a recruiting hot bed)
- Tradition/History

A&M has all of these right now IMO. We still need to upgrade some facilities but we are in that process. And I believe Sherman is the right coach to build our foundation.

SEC has 6 teams in top 25 today
Big 12 has 6 teams in top 25 today.

It's great that you are a myopic SEC fan. It's another thing to be stupid.

This move is great for the SEC..

True. But the comments from ATM elude to the fact that they have. ATM has the money. Has for some time. But constant poor hires have led them to this. Their inferiority complex about Texas I believe is a major contributor. Auburn has one about Alabama, but has found a way to move past it and be successful. ATM uses it as a crutch.

They beat Texas and OU 1 year and totally forget the dominance of the prior 10.

OU I'll give you, but Texas I won't. Texas had their run in the early 2000s, but any other chunk you take since 1975 we have the advantage over them.

The typical demographic that is of boasting age has experienced a winning record vs. Texas since they've been alive, they have every reason to stick their chest out when it comes to Texas.

jackson, look at the history and the results of the Lone Star Showdown. People thought Bill Byrne was crazy for starting it. And in the first 2 years we were demolished. But it made us better. It made us not take 2nd to anybody and demand the best. And as of the last 3 years we have a better athletic department than UTa, who once was the king of college sports with Stanford and UF.

We have moved past our little brother complex. Don't let the words to the War Hymn fool you.

I can't disagree with any of this, but i think Auburn found 200,000 ways to move past it

I think the 60s were the peak of issues trying to recruit young men to come to an all-male all-military school in a very "free" era.

There was no excuse for the 2000s, it was years of our administration making one bad decision after another. Refusal to upgrade facilities, poor coaches, extended contracts for those poor coaches, etc.
