I'd prefer to "see" LA, Seattle and SF. I'd rather see a football game in Athens, Auburn, BR, or Tuscaloosa. Hands down.

You got that right!!! Hell, even the USC and UCLA fans don't like watching their own teams sometimes.

I wonder if we will see another game slot added to schedules to accommodate these megaconferences in the future

I would be very surprised

NCAA went from 11 or 12 to 12 regular season games every year only within the last ten years of play

Lots more teams will be playing a 13th game before bowls because of more conferences with 12 or more teams

I'd also be real surprised to see any conference look to play more than 8 conference games in a year - it means lost revenue from home games and the gates are hard to pass up for anyone with a decent sized stadium

That a whole boat load of truth and nothing but the truth!!!

I mean, really, on game night I'd rather be sitting in one of them southern town any night.

In Los Angeles or Seattle, their fans ain't going half the time anyway, much less tailgating, if it is allowed.

I wouldn't call Pullman a city....a shithole in the middle of nowhere is more like it.

A good number of politicians will look for ways to stick it to A&M; including funding.
Yeah, because A&M's got no pull in the state whatsoever. I'm a Baylor alum (law school, not undergrad), and the Baylor fans I know blame Texas. So the legislature isn't so firmly in Ut hands that it could "punish" A&M. Also, those oil wells which generate those huge endowments are typically on land owned by Aggies. They aren't gonna see their school get hosed and ship their money to Texas.

I think the petulant threat to pull funding is a bluff. UT doesn't have that kind of pull.

Counselor, where did I say they had no pull?

Doesn't the PSF own the land and mineral rights?

quote:

The real property holdings of the PSF are substantial. The fund owns 15 million surface and mineral acres in Texas. Upland acres, mostly west of the Pecos River, comprise 747,522 acres of the PSF’s land. In addition, the fund owns 12.4 million mineral acres, including 4 million acres of submerged coastal lands. One million riverbed acres are also held by the fund, and the revenue received from all mineral extraction from these areas goes directly to the PSF. The PSF also accepts oil and gas in lieu of cash royalty payments, which it then sells at discounted prices to public entities such as schools and cities, earning the fund more than cash royalties would provide.

Remember, R.C. Slocum? Only the winningest coach in A&M history who is from Orange, Texas and attended McNeese STate University in Lake Charles. What is Slocum up to now?

R.C. Slocum is currently a special advisor to the president of Texas A&M University and works for the Texas A&M Foundation.

I say A&M is coming to the SEC.

It is no secret during his many years as A&M coach he stated there was no comparison between the SEC and Southwest Conference Football.

Hopefully, Stallings and Slocum convince A&M to make the right move!

Texas playing football on the West Coast is like George W. Bush going out to Palm Beach to go mountain biking with Nancy Pelosi.

That is just plain stupid! A&M is a great fit in the SEC and I would welcome them into the SEC! Plus Aggie jokes will be awesome and mean more!

Unh uh. SEC exposure would immediately mean more national exposure, bring in better recruits and result in competitive teams. It's a no brainer.

Also, will the SEC loan A&M the $10M it takes to resign from the Big XII?

Us Gumps could siphon off a little of our ref-buyin' money and send it to the aTmers to tide them over.
