Stage is being set for four team playoff

If the Pac10, BigX and SEC all move to 16 team conferences with championship games, then a four team playoff (one wild card) becomes a natural progression. This would leave the ACC and Big East to suffer the same fate at the non BCS conferences.

I could live with that! You take the SEC, PAC 16 and the BIG 16 champion and the Best not super conference team, seed them by rank then play ball!

but this is not what they are talking about? Pac 10 would have 2 BCS qualifiers and not play a championship game. This will not and should not be allowed to happen which may result in Texas and TAMU coming into the SEC would probably would have 2 BCS qualifiers.

I know, I was responding to the OP. A playoff anytime soon is a pipe dream! I was only suggesting a pretty cool senerio! As for the PAC 16 getting 2 auto bids is bullshite!

Doesn't the big east get an auto bid? Don't they have 8 teams? Not defending it....just saying. I know the big east used to have more teams but they didn't force them to acquire new teams nor did they take away the auto bid. They might get away with it

I agree with you! The Big Least should have had their Auto bid taken from them years ago! No Conference should get 2 automatic bids is my point! Take these bids and give them to teams that deserve it. In a certain good year you could have a conference have 3 teams but only if they qualify it should not be Automatic.

"Playoff" was what I thought of as well after 16 team conferences sunk in. But I don't think just 4 teams. It'll be 4 teams plus a play-in game (6 teams) or just an 8 team playoff.

I wouldn't mind seeing the NCG take place after the RoseBowl (Pac-16 vs Big-16), SugarBowl (SEC vs ACC). But that would make entirely too much sense for the BCS. They seem to believe more controversy -> more fan discussion/argument -> more $$$. Maybe they're right.
Either way, I welcome 4 Super-Conferences. It means there will be fewer undefeated BCS teams after the conference championships.
