Predicting #14 will be NC State.

If you guys think Mizzou will be an automatic win, you haven't been following them for the last several years. They are a solid team year in, year out. They would hold their own in the SEC, and hand many of you losses each year.

Actually, it would be awesome.
replace AU with Mizzou on the permanent schedule = much easier W every year.
replace UF as permanent east opponent with rotation = easier schedule as well.
this is a win all around for us.
frick an easier schedule... do you watch LSU vs. Vanderbilt, Kentucky, etc??????

damn right i do.
not to mention, having a slightly easier SEC schedule makes it much easier to go ahead and schedule awesome OOC games like the oregon game early in the season.

compared to playing AU of UF every year... damn straight they are an easy out. so is aTm for that matter.

If so, why not just move Mizzou into the Eastern Divisions. Then do away with the geographical names. Rename them after famous names in conference history, or after Presidents, whatever. Then we would not be limited by geography.

no comment
Mizzou and Arky need each other IMO just like LSU/AM will become a huge rival etc, brings them into the conference with some natural kind of kick

Marshy, you are correct ...Missouri and Arkansas are matural rivalries, much netter than LSU and Arkansas. My personal fave for the new add is Va. Tech.

Mine too. May not happen, but I can hope that it does. "Ole Frank doesn't want any part of the SEC: Bowdon 2.0

Mizzou would be terrible. Why pick up perennial middle tier Big XIIers. A&M I can deal with but give us an FSU or GT or something. There is nothing Southeast about Missouri

I get what you're saying, but I still don't agree. I want to play the teams we traditionally play. Losing those traditional rivalries would suck, IMO. I think the LSU-A&M game will become pretty big, especially if A&M becomes competitive. But if you made me pick, I'd take the Auburn series every time.

Interesting, considering Mizzou has an all-time winning record against every SEC team except for Kentucky of all teams.
In recent years (since 2000), Mizzou has won 4 out of 5 games they have played against the SEC.
You should probably worry about breaking .500 this year before worrying about which teams are good enough to join the SEC.

Those games came against two shitty OM teams, a not very good South Carolina team and an Arkansas team that had just fired it's coach after a season long bloodletting by the fan base and a team that was so divided by the he said/she said bullshite of it all that they basically forgot they were even playing the game.
That's not exactly like going out and beating Auburn, Alabama and LSU in the last decade. The only one of those MU teams that would have even remotely competed in the SEC would have been the one that beat us in the Cotton Bowl.
They also haven't played any SEC team more than 6 times so to tout a winning record over all the SEC is a little misleading.
Missouri vs:
Alabama - 2-1 - last played 1978
Arkansas - 3-2 - last played 2008
Auburn - 1-0 - last played 1973
Florida - 1-0 - last played 1966
Georgia - 1-0 - last played 1960
Kentucky - 2-1 - last played 1968
LSU - 1-0 - last played 1978
Ole Miss - 5-1 - last played 2007
MSU - 2-0 - last played 1984
SC - 2-0 - last played 2005
Vandy - 2-1-1 - last played 1958

Agreed. Mizzou waits this game out until their more natural place in the Big Ten is forced to expand again and take them. VaTech, FSU, etc etc etc want no part of the SEC. They are too happy dominating a weak conference. NC St is in a boat similar to aTm's. They feel like an afterthought in a basketball state with Duke and UNC. In the SEC, they become a football school in a power conference able to establish their own identity.
Not a great addition for the SEC, but it gives us the eyeballs we want and a team that can be competitive but no so competitive to threaten the old dogs.
