It's not like we added a perrenial powerhouse. A&M will now just be LSUs bitch, instead of UT

I don't see how adding any of the proposed teams will make the conference weaker. It isn't like half the SEC is powerhouses now. Competitive is all you need.

Say what you want, but they have actually done pretty well against the SEC. They also dismantled OU in recent years. They are solid.

Dilution. Although, I will admit across all sports aTm is a top-notch athletic program. I'm more worried about the effects their addition will have on our perfect-as-is football conference.

Does this group only have a ten year memory? A&M was the top dog in the SWC through the mid 90s. Slocum started to slip in the early 00s because they refused to modernize their facilities, but they've done some big things since then and just announced some huge new additions that will attract alot of talent. I think they will compete pretty quickly and be a contender within five years. They can definitely beat teams like Ole Miss, MSU and AU right off the bat and at least four of the six East teams. They will struggle against the top five for a couple of years, but they will not be cellar dwellers. An does anyone remember how they owned us in the mid 90s? And yes their other programs are all contenders for national titles right now. They've got Pat Henry who will continue to win national titles, and they just won titles in golf and women's bball. I believe they just won the all sports trophy for the Big 12 for 2 straight years.

How did you arrive at this conclusion?

Ask Georgia how they feel about playing WVU in the Sugar Bowl that was held in Atlanta in 06. Or if LSU is glad Pitt beat them or we'd have to give back our crystal ball from 07.....

WVU is a good program and would be a good addition to the SEC.

The only professional sports distraction they have is Pittsburg. They are a lot like LSU demographically.

Because A&M is a legit top 10 team

Look I respect MSU and its a dangerous game for LSU, but what exactly have they done? Pounded a name team that fired their coach? Almost beat Auburn last year?

Yeah, I think Va Tech or FSU would be a better fit.

Um you don't want the conference with nothing but powerhouses. What do you want more losses and injuries?? Get more chances to get knocked out of the National Championship pic. Why do you think OU is considering the Pac 12 over the SEC. Easier big name opponents.

Right now we are the premier, flagship conference in the nation. Don't fix what isn't broken, and that's what we did. It's not so much TAMU that makes us weaker, but now we have a 14th, WVU is not cut out for SEC football. Yall want to bring up WVU recent success but TAMU success from the 90s. We need to go after FSU.

So you want to talk about bringing in a stronger team than A&M or WVU...but then mention FSU??? This is the first year this decade they're actually not horrible

See how that works? So is TAMU. FSU has much more potential, a lot more endowment, and if they join the SEC will drastically improve their recruiting. They have potential, WVU will be perrenial bottom cellar with isolated up years.

This is like finding out your elite fraternity has voted to send a bid to a short, fat, ugly kid with bad breath and a 1.5 GPA.

They are a stronger program than Kentucky or Vanderbilt. However, they are not up to the standards of aTm. So the East gets weaker and easier to dominate and the West gets stronger.

FSU and WVU have little to offer our conference. Look at the numbers. They are both small market teams with weak academics. Furthermore, Florida is not the only loser when it comes to sharing premium recruits. Tallahassee is located in the heart of SEC country, and I can guarantee they would use that new membership to their advantage.

HOW?
WVU has very good football and basketball programs. Extends conference to north east. That's terrible.
