Schools to consider:

Florida State
Oklahoma
Virginia Tech
TCU
West Virginia
McNeese State (easy win)
Nicholls State (easy win)
Wellesley (easy win)
Miami (Ohio) (oh wait)
Miami (hot girls)
UCLA (more hot girls)
Hawaii (Asian hot girls)
Alaska-Anchorage (hot ex-Governor)
Colorado (skiing)
Boise State (blue field)
Washington (Starbucks)
Louisana Tech (Terry Bradshaw)
Rutgers (Chris Christie)
Georgia Tech (smart people)
Stanford (more smart people)
MIT (really smart people)
Oxford (the other one)

WEST

Alabama
Arkansas
Auburn
LSU
Miss State
Ole Miss
Texas A&M

I like the West just like this. Let the East figure out what the hell to do.

Besides, a West configuration like this makes it better than any other conference in the country, including the Big 12 minus 3 = 9.

the only schools that should be remotely considered for permanent membership are:
virginia tech
unc
duke
clemson
florida state
oklahoma
texas

can apply as honorary members:
sewanee
army
air force
navy
vmi
william & mary
the citadel
north georgia college & state university

everyone else - don't bother applying cause we don't give a damn about you and your application is going straight to the toilet after we shite on it.

Have to add Tulane and Georgia Tech as honorary members under your scenario, they were charter members after all.

And NO WAY do we want Texas.

the two schools which i absolutely DO NOT want in the SEC is Oklahoma and Texas. both of these will change the SEC for the worst. texas will bring their "shite don't stink" arrogance and try to make others subserviant to their wisshes and desires and oklahoma is the only other school in the nation that i truly hate, not just the football hate thing. either team, much less both will ruin the SEC.

absolutely not. they left voluntarily due to self-righteousness. i forgive sewanee since they left to de-emphasize athletics.

You can make this argument now but in a five years with the natural power shifts it could very well change.

Exactly. It's about the money and a strong conference.

IMO (as we have spoke of before) is to pull schools from states where they are in the shadow of another institution and feel they can get ahead but moving to the SEC in recruiting and prestige like aTm. The schools that fit the bill off the top of my head:

OSU in the shadow of OU
NCstate in the shadow of UNC
WV in the shadow of VT

With this schools the SEC adds market with every pick.

What does honorary membership get you? 10% off SEC merchandise and 2 free tickets to a BCS bowl game

Opinion. FSU is not Clemson or GaTech. Slive showing that much deference points the finger at Florida.

I absolutely think the other team should come from the East. I think Virginia Tech is a great choice, and maybe WVU. I think Florida is a big enough state population wise that FSU would probably add as much TV as adding VaTech or WVU, so that would be cool too.

If VA Tech or WVU don't pan out, I think both Oklahoma State and NC State would be smart to make a move. Getting into the SEC gets them more credibility, more money, and most importantly, gets them out of the shadows of their "big brother" schools. Both schools also make sense geographically.

In the case of OSU, you also have great facilities, and an incredibly rich donor that you know will keep opening up those pockets. Oregon wasn't anything to write home about until Phil Knight got behind them in a big way. Now you see what a difference those facilities and the raised profile that comes with all that has made. OSU's stock has also risen, as well, since Pickens started really pushing his agenda. They have become a more stable and consistent athletic dept. over the last decade. They can be competitive in the SEC.

This is it if we go to 16 in the SEC:
West - Add aTm, WVU (mountain state tie-ins with UK, UT, and Arky)...
East - Add NC State, FSU or VT

OSU finish in the AP
2010 13

2008 16

They only lack consistency right now. With a boost from being in the SEC they could win some games.

Plus think of the quality sound bites with Mils and Gundy in the same conference
