Schools that in no way should be considered for the SEC

To summarize from what I've seen various individuals propose as schools worthy of consideration. In no particular order:
Missouri
Oklahoma State
Texas Tech
Baylor
TCU
SMU
Wake Forest (i.e., no religious affiliated schools)
Houston
Memphis
Louisville (i.e., no city schools)
Southern Miss (unless you kick out OM or MSU)
Florida State
Miami
Clemson
Georgia Tech
West Virginia
Maryland
East Carolina
UL-Lafayette
Others?

Wouldn't it be easier to just list the ones that should be, and everyone else would fall into this category?

Yes, except then someone will post why X (TCU for example) is a good fit when it is nonsense.
This list gets all of these off the table.

Missouri is mos def in play as much as some of you seem to hate it

For what's it worth I have no problem with these.
However, as many have pointed out the conference probably doesn't want to add a school in a state that already has a SEC team. so you are left with these.
Now add in some other worthy choices IMO that might actually come. And you have this.
I imagine we add one of these, unless they decide it's ok to have a team from a state that already has a SEC team.
ETA: Nevermind Drop TCU, cause that would be A&M and TCU from Texas.

West Virginia (little far, but ok)

Georgia Tech is an original member so they are definitely considerable.

My preference for adding one, assuming A&M is joining:
1. Virginia Tech
2. Oklahoma
3. NC State
1 & 2 bring instant interest and 3 is somewhat a development project but also a foothold in NC.
Or add all three to get to 16.
Re Missouri, there is nothing sexy about them. No one will be excited to go to Columbia or have them come to your place.

I think NC State seems the most logical and best pick to me. It's very southern, they are pretty decent. They don't fit in with the ACC all that well.
The only thing is do they weaken the East?
"Traditionally" From ~Top to ~Bottom (just kind of a powerhouse lineup, not meaning anyone is better than the other on any given day)
WEST ----------- EAST
Alabama ---------- Florida
LSU ---------- UGA
Auburn ---------- Tennessee
Arkansas ---------- South Carolina
Ole Miss ---------- NC State
Miss State ---------- Kentucky
Texas A&M ---------- Vandy
Seems the east would be a good bit weaker than the west in the bottom three. Send Vandy to the west and Auburn to the east and would be pretty equal IMO, but fricks with our rivalry.

My contention against Mizzou besides that they don't fit culturally is the fact that they would be an unstable member of the conference. If they are not a Big 12 school they are a Big 10 school and that is it. Years from now I don't want them being the impetus behind the SEC going from 14 to 13 or 16 to 15 teams and mucking everything up.

Have to agree Mizzou seems like a Big 10 school. The more I think about it the more I like NC State, except for the division of power in the east and west.

I've got no problem with them, but I just have a feeling they are gonna be shooting for TV market areas.

Mizzou shouldn't ever be near the SEC........I would have no problem with FSU and would enjoy Clemson

Hey FTBLFN, I think you accidentally put the wrong school in your profile. You sound like a butthurt Texas fan more than a Bama fan.

Commissioner Slive has made it somewhat known (not officially but the rumors are widespread) that he only wants to add schools in states where the SEC current has nobody.
So the realistic options are (excluding any Texas schools since A&M will most likely be joining soon):
Missouri (still wants B1G but may come to SEC if that door is slammed shut)
Oklahoma (probably follows Texas)
Oklahoma State (SEC isn't that interested but if OU doesn't come they don't threaten anyone in football, men's basketball is above average, gives Arkansas a nearby rival)
Virginia Tech (my personal pick for #14, good natural cross-divisional rival for A&M)
Virginia (not likely, wants to stay in ACC or go to B1G)
Maryland (see Virginia)
UNC (see Virginia, plus doesn't want to leave Duke)
Duke (see UNC)
Wake Forest (adds nothing)
North Carolina State (possibility, may be willing to leave the Research Triangle Three)
West Virginia (least likely possibility but does add above-average football and men's basketball programs, plus fans travel very well)

Not to mention even if SC didn't have a problem with Clemson joining, quite frankly this state isn't big enough to increase TV revenue shares for the SEC. Especially since the biggest school in the state is already in the SEC.

I vote no to Oklahoma. frick that school.
I am all for FSU coming aboard

If we're going to add any school west of the state of Alabama, I would think you'd have to re-work and re-name the divisions, unless we're going to be the Big 10 where terms like "East," "West" and "Big 10" don't mean anything. I don't know that the SEC and member schools would be willing to do that.
Also, if let a school like NC State in, at some point you start diluting the conference, assuming the headline sport is football.
I would love to see Oklahoma or Florida State come in. Neither seem likely. My guess is that it's either Virginia Tech or West Virginia, and probably Tech. I don't know if the DC media market stretches out to Blacksburg but if it does, that's a coup for the conference. In terms of football, anything less in quality than West Virginia I believe is a mistake, especially if the PAC-10 continues to strengthen.
