It must suck to be a UTa fan... the only game you'll play worth a frick will be OU... if they stay.

That doesnt mean that within the realm of competitive sports the rivalry isnt still there.
Well said as always, Stu. At this point, A&M's desire to leave is about more than what happens on the football field. We don't need to go into the damned state legislature wondering if we're going to get funding screwed because someone is pissed off about the fricking football schedule. It's a whole new level of ridiculous.
And I may be in the minority, but I am one Aggie who actually agrees with Dr. D that it's in both schools' best interests to end the relationship.

I dunno. Seems like ut fans would have a reason to care now, like to show it was a mistake to leave or something. The rivalry could definitely become more emotionally balanced than it has for a long time.

then why was there so much fuss about us destroying 100 year rivalries
I personally want to end the game.
I couldn't care less about 100 years of anything, I've been a Texas fan for 20 or so years and a Texas Alumni for 5. History doesn't mean dick to me, I care about the future and if we can bury aggy by not playing them again and forcing them to play all of their away games outside of the state of Texas, I'm all for it. I don't think we should be giving them a national marquee game in the state of Texas if they bail.
As said on another board, if you get a divorce you don't invite your ex-wife over for Thanksgiving dinner anymore. Why should we want anything to do with the petty, jealous bitches?

Remember when I said all UTexas is "is spin?"
Well, this is a subsection of that. The horns want to put up a front that they aren't playing A&M, ever, again.
But they want to keep playing A&M, to preserve a top-10 All Time rivalry game. So they float the Texas Legislature as the "bad guys", and save face.
Spin, spin, spin. On the highest PR levels, spin, spin, spin. It's all they know, it's in their DNA.

Obsession noted. You are our ex girlfriend, bitch. Jesus Christ people act as if we are moving out of state. Sweet we won't have a marquee game against the Longhorns in Texas, but we will have one against LSU, Bama, Auburn, Florida, the real UT, and so on. If anything YOU are losing more by us moving to the SEC, not us.

what is UT's take on aTm fans and their gameday expperience? Do they travel well...what kind of reputation do they have?

Other universities no longer are OK with UT blatantly taking an unequal share of the pie. They're sick of it and they're leaving for greener pastures, where the revenue sharing is equal.
The truth of he matter is, if the Big 12 had equal revenue sharing, Texas A&M would lose money. Money they desperately need. It was just a couple years ago that the athletics dept. took a $16 million loan from the academic side to stay in the black.
Texas A&M has repeatedly voted "for" an unequal revenue sharing arrangement.
The University of Oklahoma has remained silent through all of this because they also want their own network. OU has made as much or more than UT in revenue sharing, too (which is based on television appearances).

Who gives a shite what a bunch of drunken swamp rats thinks? We'll do what's best for us ($$$), and you'll do what's best for you (keeping your football players out of jail).

so why keep playing Texas when every other game will most certainly be on the LHN?
How would any tu-A&M matchup be on LHN when the Tier 1 and Tier 2 networks can choose to air the game before it even gets to LHN? And doesn't the agreement still require the other school's consent even for an OOC game?

I can remember a day when geography mattered.
TCU in the Big East.........Pittsburgh in the Big 12?

why does everyone assume that the UT home games would be on the LHN? What if ESPN or ABC picked up the game?

it's just something the local radio guys brought up for discussion. Technically, it's a non-conference game & something UT would likely push to be aired over the LHN. It's just talk. And since ABC in in bed with ESPN, and ESPN is in bed with the LHN, it's not completely unlikely that it would happen

Ya know, The University of Texas is like that bitch that you dated that just kinda tries to play you. She acts like she's not really in to you. You get tired of her self-absorbed, narcissistic bullshite and tell her "we should see other people." Then, all of the sudden, she is a devoted little pain in the arse and just will NOT go away.
