"We've received numerous letters from fans like you who believe that the SEC would be the best fit. Others think the BIG 10 is the best fit academically. Still others want us to ride out the Big 12 turmoil in the hope that what once was will return again. Everyone seems to be passionate about their relative positions on the issue. I hope that whatever decision we make, no significant fan base is disillusioned and that we all remain committed to improving the University of Missouri. Rest assured, we know that there are far more alums and fans who are unhappy with the Big 12 and want out of it than those who want to stay with it. Thanks for writing."

Interpret this as you may. I think we're out of the Big 12 for sure now.

Check out the Curator's second-to-last sentence:

Agreed. We're out of the Big 12. No way the Curators are going to piss off the alumni and attempt to sell them something they have no interest in.

And....if the Big XII tries to lock them in for 5-6 years, Mizzou will not be able to jump to the Big Ten. So going SEC now may be the clear choice.

someone said on tigerboard that one of the curator's law clients is the owner of the St. Louis Rams, Denver Nuggets, and Colorado Avalanche + he's a son-in-law of a Walmart founder (Stan Kroenke).

That seems to mean that he's careful in what he writes, and is not going to be a quiet voice among the curators, even though he is one of the newest ones.

I know your BOC chairman and sent him an e-mail a couple of days ago. Have not heard back. I'm pretty sure that I know the spouse of one other. Waiting to make sure before I send that e-mail.

3 factions = status quo. Missouri is staying in the Big 12.

They'd compete just like aTm and WVU. They'd finish in the middle of the pack just like those teams. Lately OU even had a hard time dominating Mizzou. Mizzou is a lot weaker this year than last and OU had a tough time beating them which cost them the #1 ranking. I wouldn't be surprised if Mizzou beat aTm and Oklahoma St even though they have a Soph QB, starting RB out and other key injuries.

ETA: Can't say aTm would dominate Mizzou, Mizzou beat them last year in College Station, actually got in that arse 30-9. Mizzou beat Ole Miss the last 2 times they played and Arkansas the last time they played them. I don't think Mizzou would be some push over if they came to the SEC.

Push over, maybe not. Improve the conference? No

Yes, please do. It would be best for Mizzou, best for the B1G, and best for the SEC if you go there. I hope you get that invite, really.

How is TAMU improving the conference, they are a mid level team in the Big 12 just like Mizzou.lol. Actually Mizzou might have been better since joining the Big 12 compared to aTm, I might be wrong.

you have to think about a lot more than football

A&M has a strong men and women's basketball program, a solid baseball and softball program, elite track program, and they are a very strong academic school

where do I start? Very strong athletic program, very strong academic institution, large school with large alumni group, Texas market, build-in rivals with Arkansas and LSU, connected to Alabama via Paul Bryant and Gene Stalling, etc.

SEC hit a home run getting A&M.

Laughable, just go to a BIG school if you are concerned about academics. Doubt if the football and basketball players worry about which conference have better academics

I bet a lot of Mizzou fans in Western Missouri and KCMO area want them to remain in the Big 12 for the KU, K-State, OU, and Okie state rivalries.

Agreed. Anyone who doest think A&M wasnt a huge get, just doesnt get it. On top of this, I am not so sure the SEC needs to add an incredible football program. The SEC is already tough. Sure we want UT, OU, or ND, but we arent going to get them. The SEC needs to focus on the bigger picture even though the expansion business is about football (money). Mizzou, Ok State, NC St, VT, or WVU would all work for the SEC in some way.

On top of all this, you could ask the same question on what certain schools really bring to the table. For example, what does Ole Miss, MSU, Vandy, Arkansas, and USC really add to the conference? TV markets? No. Outstanding football success? No (well, except maybe Arkansas.)

I agree but people are saying they don't want Mizzou because they are not a football power or WVU because of viewers. Each brings something to the table. I know Mizzou will bring a few markets, decent overall football program, good mens basketball, academics are good, endowment is over $974 million that would be 5th highest in SEC after aTm, Vandy, Florida, Arkansas.

WVU brings good football, basketball but people say they won't bring the market. Don't see why the Pitt or DC area wouldn't count.

Florida St, OU, Clemson, GT, etc are better choices but OU already turned down the SEC. FSU did back in 92, don't know how they feel about the SEC right now. Just don't see the SEC getting a team out of the ACC with all the legal stuff and other schools in conference against in-state schools joining.
