The SEC already has a nationally televised CBS game involving LSU on the Friday after Thanksgiving.

Most LSU fans don't even like that the game is on Friday. Most Arkansas fans don't seem to mind.

I just don't see there being enough of a draw to:

1) Make LSU play on Thanksgiving Day

2) Force Arkansas into an open date to find an OOC opponent on that Friday.

TAMU has more natural OOC rivals they can schedule a game with on that weekend than Arkansas does. I doubt most LSU fans will want to bother with a game on Thanksgiving Day.

Thanksgiving Day games are best in situations where the schools are within a 2-3 hour drive from each other.

That's the only reason Texas/TAMU really worked as a Thanksgiving Day game. That's the reason Ole Miss/Miss State works.

Missouri and TAMU will not come in destroy what has been set.

Arkansas won't budge from LSU on Thanksgiving weekend. They will be told what to do just as Arkansas and South Carolina was in 1990.

TAMU will open up with LSU just as Arkansas opens up with Alabama.

Arkansas will side with Alabama and Auburn to keep their games and put Missouri in the east. In return Alabama and Auburn will side with Arkansas to keep LSU game pat.

TAMU is keeping their dates open until Texas gives in and schedules their normal Thanksgiving game.

Missouri wants their date open to play Kansas.

Again, Missouri and TAMU will not come into this conference and shuffle it all up.

Big Kat,

No way Arkansas gives up the Friday game for an OOC game and a chance to play Mizzou. Cmon man that is a shitty deal.

Also the SEC will not try to compete against the NFL w/the Dallas Cowboys and Texas playing that day. I don't think the ratings would be there.

Oh.. and Commissioner Slive has openly stated he wants TAMU playing Texas on Thanksgiving weekend.

Simple.. The SEC covers the entire Mid-South and South-East of games on TV.

He's not stupid.

TAMU and Texas will schedule again and all the pieces are perfect.

p.s. You get Missouri playing Kansas again at the end of the year you literally have every eye ball from Kansas south to Texas and East to Florida watching the SEC.

See my point.. Stupid Aggies.

Our athletic director has stated more recently that if we play Texas annually again in the future that it will likely be in Sept. Now that the Thanksgiving date is open until at least 2018 regardless, Slive will want to schedule a big match up that weekend to keep the primetime slot. Baylor, Tech and Texas are doing their gay boycott thing, but Byrne also stated he doesn't see us playing ANY BigXII teams for the foreseeable future. Similarly, Kansas has already intimated that they won't play Mizzou anymore.

LSU-A&M simply makes the most sense on either Thanksgiving or Friday after to fill the Texas-Texas A&M slot. Fact is, A&M is much closer to being a true rival for LSU than Arky is, and A&M-LSU is a bigger match up.

Arky-Mizzou makes for better geographic rivalry, although it will take a few seasons to really get going. As far as it being an cross division game, realignment brings some change and I doubt having that one game at the end of the season will be a huge problem.

We will have to see what the verdict is, but my money is on this happening.

LSU is a stronger program than Arkansas right now, and Arkansas is a stronger program than A&M right now. A&M has lost each of the last 3 years to Arkansas, and lost last year to LSU. Having A&M lose to LSU 10 years in a row will certainly NOT provide a bigger match up anytime in the near future than what the Arky-LSU series has been since we joined the SEC.

As far as A&M being more of a true rival, well that may have been true 20 years ago or even 10 years ago, but in 2011 I don't think that's a given anymore.

I would argue the two teams are about the same. We lost on the last possession each of the last 2 years, and gave the game this year away after building an 18pt halftime lead. You could give them a slight edge for now, but the difference is smaller than you think.

We have some adjustments to make in the next couple of years, but I don't think you will see A&M lose to LSU 10 years in a row. In our worst decade of college football ever, not even OU beat us 10 years in row. I believe the series would be very competitive. Besides, even when we beat Texas 10 for 11 from 1984-1994, it didn't stop the game from being a big deal. Likewise when we lost to them from '00-'05.

A Missouri-A&M matchup wouldn't set the pulses racing for either fan base, having neither proximity or history to rely upon. It would be as contrived as Arkansas vs. LSU.

Lol wut? Arkansas and LSU have played like 58 times in our history and are neighboring states.

There is no comparing that series with an A&M-Missouri game.

No, Translation: A team comparable to LSU couldn't beat us 10 years in a row in our worst decade of football ever. That decade is behind us and we are a much better program now. LSU isn't going to beat us 10 years in a row either.

every LSU fan I've spoken with wants to play A&M last game of the regular season

great fit for both schools and could turn into a national type rivalry over time

something the LSU-Arky game attempted but has never really pulled off

I think LSU vs. Arkansas belongs at the end of the year. It has been there for roughly 20 years, and we don't replace that for the Aggies.

I think that the LSU-A&M game belongs in late September/early October.

Especially since at some point Texas will come to their senses and begin to play Texas A&M again, and that game absolutely belongs on Thanksgiving. We're not gonna move Arkansas around when the possibility, however slight, exists that we could get walked out upon at some point in the future.
