When I say playoff, I mean a plus one situation fwiw.
However, the big four would control what is left of the BCS.

to make more money for the schools...I don't think it has anything to do with playoffs.

lucrative games could have been a part of the 12-team conference era...but they weren't. We won't be any closer to a playoff when the dust settles.

quote:The thing about playoffs that I can't get past is the fact of the existence of all these traditional destination bowl games spread all over the holiday calendar. A lot of folks sniff that those bowls can become the playoff venue, but the scheduling logistics of bowls depend on not only the availablity of teams, but also the availability of the city or stadium in which they are to be played, plus the ability of a stadium to fill it with fans who are always more willing and freer to travel around the holidays proper than some random weekend in December. Because these bowls and when they occur are crucial to many an urban economy, the bowl system may not lend itself readily to a playoff. And so it goes... I just don't think playoffs will do college football the kind of good so many of its proponents want to believe.

With 16 teams a piece, these 4 conferences will control over a 50% share of major college football. That's a bit more leverage when it comes to negotiations.

quote:This. One of the major conferences will not allow UT to enter without giving up the LHN.
Texas will never get everything they want. So regardless of where they land, a huge ego check will have occurred.

That's great and all.. but I'm pretty sure the SEC at least doesn't want anything to do with Notre dame and TU
