The SEC already voted yes. So suck it up. It's happening and there's not a damn thing you can do but like it.
No, I can not like it.
And not go to College Station, which I doubt many do.
But you missed the hypothetical point of my question: what would happen if the SEC told A&M no?

I hate the permanent opponenent anyway. Just because Bama wants to play Tennessee doesn't mean that LSU should have to play the Gators every year.
I disagree. We have played Florida every year but 3 since 1953. We do not need to do away with that game

You never answered...so I will answer for you:
quote:
The CEOs believe the Pac-12 is the best-positioned conference in the country. They don’t want 16 teams, and they don’t want the SEC and Big Ten going to 16 teams, either.
The conference has stability… it has a football championship game … it has the richest TV deal in college sports history … and it has a wholly-owned network(s) to serve its fans, provide unprecedented exposure for its athletes, promote the league’s academic mission — and generate millions of dollars per school annually once it attains maximum distribution.
But...
If Texas A&M becomes the SEC’s 13th team, that sets the superconferences in motion.

If the SEC had told A&M no, or indicated to them that the answer would always be no, then they would probably have followed UT/OU/OSU to the Pac last year. Regardless, the Big XII would cease to exist, and the Pac-16 would be this super beast that mass media couldn't get enough pimping, inflating rankings, etc. Then it would be up to the SEC or ACC to make the next jump. If the ACC expanded first, then the SEC would be forced to expand to compete nationally, but all that would be left would be a bunch of horseshite, and you'd end up with Tulane and Rice in the SEC. But I guess you wouldn't have to go to College Station.

Maybe, and just maybe, this attitude is why T-Rex does not walk the earth. Everything evolves to survive and flourish - except the opinions of some individuals - and you see what happens to those who do not evolve.

I get what you are saying...you are concerned that the Pac12 will add all of these teams and expand to a 16 or greater superconference while the SEC will be late to the party and be left with the rejects.
However, I do not believe that the Pac12 will or wants to expand with all those teams. I believe they would in response to an expansion by us but there are indications that they are happy with their situation.

Baylor is calling the shots for the SEC now. They'll tell Slive what to do.
Dude we heard you the first fifty times. Quit trolling.

Adding A&M = Adding 1 more team = Dismantling long standing division and cross division rivalries...I say NO!
and that's why we have to do 16
As much as a good fit and addition as I think A&M to the SEC is, I'd just assume not invite them if it means going to 16 teams. I can hold my nose and reluctantly live with added Missour or West Virginia if...AND ONLY IF..which ever team that joins goes into the SEC East.
Any expansion that includes anything other than 2 new teams split between the West and East to get to 14 should be fought tooth and nail by any fan that cares anything at all about SEC football. Those rolling their eyes at losing games like AU/UGA, Bama/Tennessee, LSU/Ole Miss, LSU/Florida, or LSU playing Alabama and Auburn don't realize how much you're going to miss those games when they're gone in place of accomodating the newly added teams at the expense of long time members.

This could very well be true. It's like World War III. Both sides have their finger on the button. UT's unequal revenue sharing was the escalation, and the Longhorn Network was probably the first shot. It sucks the Whorns had to obliterate parity, but what can you do now?

I agree. Its a difficult situation.

I'll tell you what you could do now...Texas could agree to equal revenue sharing (which they won't do) and they could restructure the conference to be fair to ALL it's members (which it also won't do)
So, instead of dismantling an entire conference to keep 1 team, kick those greedy bastards out and force them to go independent and keep the conference intact.
Conferences have geographic restrictions for a reason. Oklahoma being a part of the "Pacific 12" is just stupid. There is no history between them and any team on the west coast.
College football makes alot more sense if the Big 12 remains intact.

Man, all these tx schools are pushy UT pushed aTm out with their network....aTm is pushing around the SEC by inviting themselves into the conference, and telling the sec when they planned on starting...the Baylor is pushing around aTm and the SEC threading to sue...sounds like a bunch of pushy 4 yr olds lol
