Agreed. That's why Slive made it known he really wants Texas.

if they moved both bama and auburn, then the east would have 8 teams and the west only 6. We wouldn't be able to stay at 14, we would have to go to 16.

FSU has a better program and national appeal = tv ratings for ESPN/CBS
Exactly. FSU is the most logical school for expansion. Plus it absolutely locks down Florida as no one gives a shite about Miami except for a vocal minority even when they are good. No one cares about CFB in Missouri. I'd rather see VaTech which isn't a great choice either over Missouri.

STL has three million people in their metro area, Tallahasee is smaller than BR.
Also, I don't think it's a given that the SEC even pursues an ACC team.

It's apparent that they are more worried about tv markets and $$$$ than they are "appeal."
appeal = tv ratings
tv markets are stupid with a cable deal. people in these markets have to watch the games. missouri won't add viewers
FANS are relying on the "tv market" argument for the SEC. inviting TAMU does add some market, but it adds VIEWERS. aggies will watch games in large numbers, and there are a lot of aggies

Besides, within the last few years Florida St. hasn't been that "appealing" anyway.
they still get national pub and are a 4-0 star away from being sucked off every day by the press

but the StL market is more than likely bigger than Tallahasee.
and very few people in STL give a flying frick about CFB

Sources have said that they aren't pursuing any ACC teams. However, this stuff appears to change daily and I'm sure the SEC is ready to adapt to those changes.

No conference or team is off the table at this point. It's too early in the game.

Va Tech would bring 9th and 43rd ranked markets
Is that DC and Richmond?

i fricking hate VT and the possibility of letting them in the SEC, but they bring more than mizou
I don't hate VT but I hate Mizzou. Lived up there for four years. There's really not that much support for Mizzou athletics around the state. It's a recruiting wasteland for football, they're biggest rivalry game in Kansas, and STL and KC isn't college supporting type towns. Too many storied professional teams to root for.

To hell with Florida State.
I can't watch them on TV. Having to listen to that Seminole chat song for a whole game drives me crazy.

Texas A&M - Dallas (5), Houston (10), San Antonio (37), Austin (48), Harlingen (87) and Waco (89). Total television households - 6,870,320.
Virginia Tech - Washington, D.C. (9), Norfolk (43), Richmond (58) Roanoke (67). Total television households - 4,060,090.
N.C. State or UNC - Charlotte (24), Raleigh (26) and Greensboro (46). Total television households - 2,947,110.
Mizzou - St. Louis (21), Kansas City (32) and Springfield (74). Total television households - 2,613,550.
Bringing in Texas A&M and VT would add 10,930,410 new television households. Bringing in four of the five teams would add 16,491,070.

yea missouri makes no senese
athletics? decent...football sucks
academics? good, nothing worth freaking out over
support? almost non-existent.

Damn, nice rundown. I still would take UNC over Va Tech, but I don't want Duke.

VT makes more sense to some, Mizzou to others. The truth? Mizzou would be available and fits perfectly with the geographical expansion concept. There isn;t a flaw in it.
Expansion isn't about good football, its about the potential market, and what you can sell to advertisers come time to renew tv contracts.
