Is Missouri trying to play the SEC for fools?

By either stringing us along or using the SEC to get a better deal from the Big 12? If they want in, say so and the SEC can decide yes or no. I bet West Va. would trip over their feet running to get in.

It's a serious long term decision that takes time, however, I think they know what they want to do and we will get a good indication starting this ween when their board of curators meet. If they decide on the SEC, it will be a deliberate process like A&M was. Maybe not as long since we've just been through it.

Can't rule out the BigE for Mo. Not a bad fit if you give it some thought.

My guess is that they stay in the big 12, unless the sec money becomes to good to pass up. I think that the fans will get over not being in the SEC when they realize that they are more competitive in the big 12 in the long run.

I think what they really want is the B16 Ten, but they're worried about the Dwindling XII collapsing and leaving them in the lurch. So they're wondering whether to take what they can get.

Screw the Big Ten and their boring conference....I want the SEC.

Yeah, I think they're in a bad spot. The school wants the big 10 and I think fans would be thrilled to go there, but Mizzou is the big school that Texas has always "not picked for kickball."
Mizzou absolutely needs to fend for itself but this is getting complicated. With OU getting punked, Mizzou is now the only school with any leverage against Texas in the new Bevo 9 negotiations. I dont think mizzou should commit to this longterm stuff in a weak and bitter conference. Sadly, as usual, Texas couldn't care less if Mizzou leaves - which is, and has been, ridiculous.
I think Mizzou fits best in the Big 10, but would be happy to see them in the SEC. But, I worry they're about to make the same mistake we made by sticking around an extra year. Difference is this time looks like you won't be able to leave the following year when your school figures out it made a mistake by not leaving. We were blessed to get the second chance.

From what I can tell Mizzou fans want the SEC badly - even moreso than some of the want the B1G. The reservations of most anti-SEC Mizzou fans is football competition. One problem is the St. Louis Post-Dispatch which for some reason thinks the city is in the eastern U.S. Other problems are the Kansas City Star and the president of Missouri's board of curators, Warren Erdman, who lives in Kansas City. Erdman is not looking out for the best interests of Mizzou. He and the Star are more concerned with the economic impact Kansas City would suffer by losing the Big 12 basketball tournament.
All indications are that the Missouri governor is onboard for the SEC and he appointed five of the current seven curators.
I drank beer with a Mizzou alum this afternoon who told me something very interesting. He said that according to someone who I'd characterize as a rock solid source the Mizzou chancellor and AD are willing to dump the entire decision into the laps of their curators and let them make the decision one way or another. The Missouri curators meet on Tuesday.
So, my feeling is no. Mizzou is not stringing us along. But this is not something that happens with the snap of someone's fingers. It takes time.
What do I think Mizzou will do? I honestly do not know. What I can tell you is that if my information is correct and their curators act according to the wishes of the vast majority of Mizzou fans and what is best for their school then Mizzou will be applying for membership in the SEC very soon.

SEC will not be played for fools
If Missouri doesn't want in - it's on their decision makers.
If the SEC wants you, you would be wise to accept especially considering the upheaval in the Big 12 as long as Texas is around.
If not, Missouri might look back 10 years from now and really regret it
