Bama goes. That way, they can retain both long time rivalries (Aubie and Tenn) on an annual basis.

Good idea, make Florida deal with a couple real powerhouses.

I agree that this is probably what would happen and makes the most sense. You gotta keep them together

Another question is if we go to a 9-game conference schedule.

Chicken, the prevailing opinion (this hour) is that whichever 2 Big XII teams come over will go to the West. Thus, 2 existing West teams would slide over to the East.
Um, no.
West + 2 teams = 8
East = 6
8+6 = 14
To make West = East, you need to take ONE from West. This really isn't that complicated.
As for the team that would go, I'd say Auburn. Natural rivalry with Bama would stick and the traditional rivalry with Georgia would continue.

It just depends who joins.
If it's two western teams from the big 12 both auburn and Bama could go east.
Eta I can't count either

Holy crap, make it stop.
See my post above for this basic math.

so two teams are added to the west I guess?
In that case both Auburn and Bama move to the East and Vandy moves to the West
Makes the most geographic sense and prevents splitting up the important rivalries

you realize that opens up the possibility of a 15 game CFB season, right?

Auburn would go, since they're already in Georgia...

Depends on how many non-divisional conference games are played.
If each team keeps a permanent non-div SEC rival, then obviously for them it's the Iron Bowl. Since historically, 'Bama is usually stronger than AU, keep Bama in the West to maintain the East-West balance.
If there won't be permanent non-div rivals, then move Tennessee to West (since on average, they're comparable to Bama) and AU & Bama to the East.

I love how someone said can you add when it would make a 8 team west versus a 6 team west if you shifted them both east.

The SEC will go 16 teams, in my opinion.
If they do, they will probably go to a 9-game conference schedule -- 7 division games + 1 permanent + 1 rotating from the other division (unless they realign in a way to keep certain games going, like UT-Bama, UGA-Auburn, etc). Then it'd be a 2-game rotation.
