IF Mizzou comes to the SEC Gumps could go east

How would you organize the east and the west?
Putting Bama in the east would allow for SECCG between LSU and BAMA
what say ye?

Auburn's already said they want to move East. Also, wrong board.
Edit: It's obviously not on the wrong board anymore.

Hey, you know what? I'm one of those Gumps which falls within the category of wanting for Mizzou to come over and to keep the Third Saturday alive, so I'm down with whatever needs to be done.
I'm fairly certain they'll figure out how to marry the two concepts in such a way that everyone will be satisfied.

Somebody really should sticky one of the better geography/division splits threads.

the LSU/BAMA game every year is epic. but the gumps seem to want to preserve their game with UT. i've heard that is a sticking point with the possible annexation of missouri. seems to me that no matter who we pick as #14 the same situation will exist. all that is rumor though.

My vote is Tide to the east- it would balance the east and west better-
Plus with the current level of talent in the east they should be a shoo in for years to come

So you don't want to see LSU play Alabama every year anymore?
Some people don't want to play Florida every year.
To me, it wouldn't be like playing in the SEC anymore if LSU didn't play Alabama, Florida and Ole Miss every year.
Fans seem to be thinking that the individual games don't matter anymore, all that matters is getting to the SECCG.
Some of us out here are still interested in the actual matchups every weekend.
How about a conference slate where we only see Mizzou, A&M, Arkansas and USCe come to Tiger Stadium. Throw in 3 OOC cupcakes, Tech, UL and Appy State and that would SUCK. It would be like LSU had been kicked out of the SEC.
Add in the proposed 4 16-team conferences, a Div 1a playoff, and what the hell, pay the players, and what do you have?
A COMPLETLY different product than the college football that we all grew up watching and loving.
If college football is so great and we love it so much, why are we so intent on changing it to something completely different?

Just looking to balance the divisions better. All the power has been in the west

First of all, no it hasn't. Not for very long at least.
Second, I know you're just trying to "balance the divisions" but why isn't ANYBODY looking at the actual PRODUCT that we'll be getting for our money?
The product for me is the matchups week in and week out.
It's almost as if I had been a Chevy truck buyer my whole life and the GM tells me that my next truck will be made in Mexico out of plastic but it's great because their profit margins will be higher.
I don't care about the producer's profit margin, I care about the product I'm getting.

I want to be part of a conference and not some clique within it. Back in the decade of the 60's we had the following:
o we played AU once (after not playing them for 26 yrs)
o didn't play GA (we were in the middle of a 24 yr period of not playing)
o we didn't play Vandy (we only played once in a 24 yr period),
o we played TN twice.
What kind of fricking conference was that? And why do you want to return to it? No, we will not have 26 year gaps, but it ain't going to be much better. GA, TN, SC, KT, MO, and Vandy should play in TIger Stadium more than FIVE TIMES IN SIXTY YEARS (8 game sched with one perm x div). It should be at minimum 12 and an ideal 15 (a home and away every 4 years).
The conference getting bigger means these x-div permanent games have to go. They probably won't, but they are paradoxically a detriment to the conf. It's no coincidence that the conf reached it max after these cliques were broken up.
You speak of matchups, but matchups are not determined by name, but play on the field. It's just a fact that the propects of teams vary over time, even for the big 6. Thowing all your eggs into one basket maximizes the risk of missing better matchups. Diversity is the key to maximizing quality.
Even though we've played FL almost continuously since the 50's, it didn't really turn into a great matchup until the ealy 2000's. The great storied AL/TN matchup has been more dud than even interesting in the last 35 years.
Do I WANT AL and AU to move to the east? No. But if they insist on playing TN, GA, FL every year instead of being in a conference, they need to be together. Besides this was the way it was in the 60's and they desparately want to return there. I don't care strongly about geographical boundaries, so I would take any of the other teams that want to be in a conf in return, so it doesn't have to be Vandy.

Yeah you have to keep that 3rd Saturday in October alive. After all......the sky might fall if Alabama and Tennessee don't meet on the 3rd Saturday of every October.
