more than UC

no way we can quantify national following so its silly to speculate. even the recent data is garbage.

HOWEVER, we do know that cincy has a larger TV market which is what this is all about. plus if they can deliver dayton and columbus this would be a solid grab; better than WVU at least which makes the fanfare surrounding their program and the SEC even more amusing.

How do you suppose they would deliver the columbus market and dayton with tOSU there? Hell, the cinci market is probably more tOSU than UC.

FWIW, i'm vehemently opposed to either team joining the SEC.

the dayton market is a no-brainer; its within 30-45 minutes of cincy.

columbus market is saturated with tosu (obviously) but the hatred for all things SEC runs rampant throughout the area plus they love their college football. they ranked as the #3 city in college football passion just last month. LINK obviously more research would need to be done but ive lived in columbus for several years so i can *assume* there would be interest.

im also opposed of cincy joining for various reasons but they would make sense financially, more so than some of the other schools thrown around.

Heard about this on WKRP.

Yep. Les Nessman reported the possibility on the 6:00 PM sports.

I agree. There are a dozen teams I would prefer before Cincy. Maybe several dozen.

you should know better. nobody in dayton give a frick about UC, and columbus is self-explanatory.

Cincy is a program somewhere between Arkansas and ULL. It's a mid tier program that has a small fan base and no national success. They don't recruit the athletes to compete in the SEC.

This. It would never actually deliver the Ohio market. Perhaps with an SEC invite it could eventually be Ohio State's "Auburn" but it would probably take 20 to 30 years.

You might be surprised to know that a lot of people in Ohio do like to watch SEC games as well.

If Cincinnati is the best the SEC can do, we should just quit now.

think LONG-TERM...

putting someone in the SEC is the best way to tell them the nation believes in them football-wise.

some programs we don't have might have what it takes, but if you wait a generation or so, anyone we add might be able to become competitive

Well, for one thing... Cincinnati doesn't really fit the model of an SEC school with its metropolitan campus and borrowed NFL stadium.

I agree 100%. Bringing in Cinci would be an embarrassment.
