I personally believe it could hurt LSU recruiting in Texas. Not a lot though. I think the benefit of having A&M would outweigh the one or two kids lost a year to the aggs.
It will give LSU more exposure in Texas than they would normally get. So it could help in some ways

So let me get this straight.
If UT were to somehow join the SEC, we would suck because we are a soft, pass-happy team, and the competition (which we're afraid of) is so much tougher. Then recruiting suffers and the program becomes an SEC also-ran.
If A&M joins the SEC, they suddenly become the dominant team in Texas recruiting, return to prominence while the UT program falters.
Makes a lot of sense.

Nobody in this thread made either of those statements.

OK, but these sentiments have been expressed on this board. Maybe not quite as exaggerated as I stated them, but similar
I'll just say I'm not worried if A&M alone goes to the SEC. They would get destroyed in the SEC (like they already do the Big 12). If it was OU on the other hand, I would be very worried about the effect it would have on recruiting.

by people with similar intellectual capacity to your own maybe
We all know Texas has a great athletic program, but it just doesn't make any sense that they'd choose to go to the PacX or the Big Ten for reasons other than their own perceived power over the (former) Big XII South.
TAMU bolting to the SEC would jeopardized that perception, and that's what Texas seems to be afraid of.

Hey longhorn. What do you think about UT giving TAMU and ultimatum to either follow UT or no more games?

Who believes that?
UTx will never be an also-ran. What I think UTx suffers from is a fear that they might not be the belle of the ball anymore with all the stiff competition that the SEC goes through every year. It would be a LOT tougher than what the Pac-10 presents.

Insult to my intellectual capacity aside, you're probably right since now that I think about it, it's mostly Arky fans who say that.

I think UT is calling A&M's bluff. And we'll find out who's holding the cards soon enough.

When did I ever say that?
I know UT will be fine. They're a great program. I'm just saying they will be a "little" more worried if TAMU goes to teh SEC.

If UT goes Pac10, 3 time zones away, a real disassociation with the state of TX is imminent. Somebody is going to move up to take their place for recruits. Likely a TX team in a juggernaut conference just off to the East that plays during more fan-friendly time slots and half the driving distance to away games.
TX and OK moves to PAC10 are risky at best IMO

1. It's not 3 time zones
2. The majority of the games would be in the East Division; similar to the current schedule.
You haven't kept up, have you?

The state of TX cranks out about 400 Div 1 players every year. Texas will still get their players. You may cut into what OU pulls out of Texas and that would be great.
Excellent point. There is good football in OK but not enough to sustain one or more of OU, OSU, and Tulsa.

But, if TAMU does decide to come, don't bring these guys.
They look like Tebows!

Tulsa gets a lot of players from Louisiana, FYI

TT OU, OSU and CU is your majority?
Or you're assuming UTx can demand what's left of B12 join also?

They will move over asu and au and some others to the east.
