Clemson basically is an SEC team. But VA Tech is a better fit here. Hell, FSU can't even fill up doak

It will draw more once they start playing the likes of UGA, UT, and SC regularly.

The big problem getting Va. Tech into the SEC is UVA. We don't get Va. Tech without them.

Being a Virginian, I disagree with the above. UVA is never leaving the ACC. It would be the death of their football team (already on life support) and their hopes of getting basketball back on track would be dashed too.

UVA doesn't give a shiite what tech does.

I think Clemson is the most SEC-Like IMO.

That makes sense but that isn't a mindset that will just go away quickly.

Agreed. Va Tech is not remotely SEC like IMO.

I thought UVA did a lot of work to get Va. Tech into the ACC.

They did assist with VPI getting in. They won't care if they leave and won't try to come with them.

They aren't leaving the ACC and they won't care if Va Tech leaves other than the fact the ACC will need to find a replacement. That's the only reason they would care.

FSU sucks, small fair-weather fan base.

I don't care about TV markets, SEC dominates now, why change.

This is a pic at FSU last year against a conference opponent(WF).

There team has been down for awhile now... and the demon decons are hardly an interesting opponent.

Right now there is a lot of renewed interest in the FSU fan base and you can bet your arse doak would be full for SEC caliber opponents.

Yes, anyone can fill a stadium and get excited when playing big teams. What separates the big time programs from the others is the support for the program at all times. That pic was from the very first conference game for a new head coach(jimbo), that's pitiful.

I lived in Tallahassee during the three best years ever for their program, their fan support was still not impressive.

UF sells out every year regardless of conference schedule, OOC opponents and record.

FSU's fanbase is fair weathered as a sum bitch.

Their fans complain how far away Tally is as their excuse. Not SEC material at all.

My contention is that if UF was the ACC team and FSU was the SEC to start with the roles would quite possibly be reversed.

Lets be honest, how excited would you be about college football if you're team was in the ACC for 20 something years of your life?

EDIT: Wow, I can't believe how many fanbases are so against having an in-state rival in the SEC. I guess it takes balls to be like Alabama and Auburn

I doubt it. We would have dominated the ACC and winning more conference titles.

Our fan base is much larger and I don't think you'd see much difference. UF is the Flagship school so people invest in the entertainment that they provide.

I would argue the attendance would not be different.

Well shite, it's Wake Forest.

Forget about the days when WF was raping them at the Doak.

I don't have a huge problem with it, but in our defense you have always been in the same conference so you are used to it. When you know you have something so great, there is not a lot of interest to share that with one of your biggest rivals. I am sure it would be the same if Bama was SEC and Auburn ACC and trying to get in.

If this is true, tell me making a road trip to Tally and hitting on all those fine women wouldn't be awesome.

Seriously. FSU has unbelievable women. It plays a big part in me wanting the Noles

Is it not fair to say that the major advantage UF has over FSU is conference affiliation in regards to recruiting?

As much as I hate Auburn, I realize that the competition between the two of us is at least partially responsible for the recent success of both teams.

Plus if their fans and program (talking about FSU now) are so crappy... then what are you afraid of?
