Are you really that surprised?

It's the same Texas that lists 2008 among it's Big XII Conference Titles, despite not even qualifying for the Big XII Title Game.

Texas makes Bama look classy and humble about their historical claims.

So can anyone confirm that LSU has three of these and Bama has six?

Chicken said they didnt win their bowl game in 1970....I posted a link that showed they won their 1970 bowl game.

But yes I do see where they lost the Cotton bowl played in 1971 for the 1970 football season.

That's a very misleading statement.

They had the best record in the Big 12 in 2008 and beat both of the teams that played in the Big 12 title game.

There is no way any of you would just shrug and say, well the system worked if your team was in the same position as UT in 2008.

it says 4 National Championships, which is fact. It does not say 4 BCS titles. You guys must be real desperate to bash Texas. Makes you look envious.

I would not claim a league title in that instance. In the SEC all teams that tie for a division lead are considered champions but the winner of the tie-breaker is a CCG rep. See Ole Miss in 2003. They are recognized as Western Division Champions having finished 7-1 in league play. That one loss was to LSU whom also finished 7-1 in league play. LSU goes to Atlanta having won their game with Ole Miss. I have no problem with Ole Miss claiming a West championship. But one needs to play in the CCG to win the conference title.

man, we can't invite these guys to the SEC. give 'em a few years and them and Bama are gonna be claiming nc's for the same year.

Last year A&M beat both teams that played in the Big XII title game... and tied for best record in the South. OU made it to the championship because they had the highest BCS ranking despite A&M playing the hardest schedule. There was no whining or complaining or asterisk conference title claims.

In no way is it misleading.

No self-respecting program with even the tiniest bit of honesty would claim a conference title in that situation.

no it isnt

they DID NOT win the Big 12 that year. Pure and simple. They DID NOT qualify for the Big 12 Championship game based off of tiebreaker rules THEY signed off on years ago. Too bad, so sad for them. To try and claim the conference title from that year is beyond pathetic.

You won't see A&M trying to claim last years Big 12 title even though they beat both teams that made the Big 12 Championship game and were in a tie for the Big 12 South lead.

Also, the Whorns were in a 3 way tie for the Big 12 South that year. By the logic they are using, does that mean Texas Tech can claim they won the entire Big 12 that year too?

BCS won't be around long enough. Super Conferences will take care of that. Gonna be hard for an Independent to get a place in the picture!
