Yeah the SEC has one Tiger team too many now. And we have the original Death Valley, so there.

Actually theirs is the original.

mind pointing me to where slive is quoted saying that?

you can google it if you wish, im not going to bother looking for it again.

however the conversations with slive and the lsu and arkansas chancellors have been linked and discussed on this board previously

no way with clemson, they bring nothing...

They've got a rich SEC-ish tradition. Living near South Carolina and in Atlanta where there are a ton of their alumni, it's very obvious.

However, it is $20m moot points...

fwiw, i'm pretty sure clemson's memorial stadium was death valley first. we wear it better now, but i think they were first.

clemson had death valley first, although LSU was "deaf" valley first.

Sorry, but I could care less about tv markets and all that crap. Clemson, vetch, and fsu basically play sec style of football, have similar fan base to sec schools and would make for great rivals for some sec schools. I would much rather go see an lsu/Clemson game on a road trip than mizzou/lsu, or watch Clemson v uga or USC than mizzou v west virgina. Clemson is southeastern football. And, as a fan, that's all I care about.

Clemson is good fit for SEC

Again, I understand TV markets and $$$ is the driving force behind this...but that doesn't mean I have to agree with it or like it. Again, like the writer of this article, I would much rather watch Clemson play USC, Auburn, or Ga., then Ole Miss v. Mizzou or Tenn or Florida v. aTm. Just my opinion.

thats 100% fine, you are certainly entitled to that opinion. i agree clemson is very sec-like, and aside from not wanting another tigers AND death valley i would love to see them in the conference.

however, i am a realist and it aint happening because of

USCe would block Clemson. Same with UGA blocking GT and possibly UF blocking FSU. 9 votes minimum to add a new school and rumors are those 3 at a minimum have banded together to prevent their rival from joining the conference.

In addition, Clemson adds 0 revenue to the SEC. Mediocre in football and basketball from a tv standpoint.

jcole couldnt agree more with what you have said in this thread. I understand people not liking expansion and the thought of the unknown scares some but wtf is the point in expanding into areas we already have?

they bring nothing new for a future sec network and they would need to add 17.3 mil per year to existing contracts just for them to be even with other sec schools assuming no profit, extra travel cost etc.

if these people really believe clemson would do that.....well there is a reason many on the rant thought JJ was gonna be a legit Heisman contender.

Not true btw. On our boards, we're split. The first division is concerning leaving the ACC. Of those who would prefer another conference, based on what I've read, the majority would prefer the Big 10 for all reasons other than football.

this is the dumbest thing ever posted. why would you NOT want the conference in new, large tv markets?

The only thing Southeastern about Missouri is SE Missouri State. I'm just referring to geography. It's better than adding Chicago or Seattle, but it's not SEC.

If the goal is to snag big media markets, obviously Clemson is NOT bringing that.
