But I wouldn't pick up Vandy or Ole Miss if they weren't already in the SEC.

so if the test is "what have you done for me lately" i think TCU passes that test.

from a fan's perspective, i would rather have TCU in the west than Mizzou. i don't think i'm alone there.
The tamu exit fee is going to be the ballpark of $15M. $20M isn't insurmountable.

They had almost 4 decades of being bad.

we could easily say this about ole miss. and dont even start on vandy's perpetual incompetence. tennessee is also working on it's own shite streak as well.

I just hate how much win the Pac16 does in this new realignment.

adding UT and OU makes your conference pretty damn impressive, no matter where you start from.

pac16 would be a clear #2 conference and in the same vicinity as SEC for #1. i think this is good for everyone.

i would completely get behind TCU in the SEC. think vanderbilt with lesser academics and better athletics.

plus tcu, along with tamu, goes a long way to shoring up the huge DFW media market (especially if UT and tech head west).
i'm down with WVA. but who are #15 and #16 - that's the real question.

you can google it if you wish, im not going to bother looking for it again.

i did. it's not out there.

And we have the original Death Valley

fwiw, i'm pretty sure clemson's memorial stadium was death valley first. we wear it better now, but i think they were first.

he said "all expansion WILL increase the SEC's footprint"

mind pointing me to where slive is quoted saying that?

I can't see anyway the SEC can get stronger than it is now.

replace vandy with WVA.

yeah it is so unimportant that slive specifically said it

did slive say it's the only consideration? did he even say it's the top priority? if so, i'd love to read that.

what i said was that, although expanding the footprint is important, it's not the only consideration.
i agree with the OP - clemson would be a good fit.

i think folks are overemphasizing the need to expand the market footprint. obviously it's important, but it's not all important.

i also dont think a $20M exit fee is unmanageable.

pure speculation on my part but i would think that at least one or two current ACC schools are poached by the SEC.

that may be why the ACC was so quick to jump at Pitt and Cuse - they want the replacements in place to head off talk about ACC going kaput like there is about the Big East.

if it works out this way, what happens to schools like boise...

I'm pretty sure the members voted for it.

ok that makes sense. it just seems that every time there's a media reference to an increased exit fee, there's no mention that the member institutions met to discuss, vote, or approve.

does anyone know how a conference "readjusts" its exit fee? shouldn't that be something bargained for or set before the year?

if it can be reset arbitrarily at any point in time, what's to keep the ACC (or another similarly defensive conference) from saying its, oh, $500M?

all this talk about USF joining the SEC is making me queasy.

SEC needs to go balls out for WVA and FSU for the east and mizzou for the west.

anything less would be uncivilized.
