I think they want to leave space for a possible Big-12 meltdown

who knows, but i don't see either lubbock or stillwater adding anything to the pac 16 unless they were what would get ou and texas ... again, who the heck knows.

in the past they were on their list.....Don't see why that would have changed. I am sure they are talking. They can add houston, baylor, and the kansas schools. They need one more for 16. Hawaii has been mentioned before but that is a legitimate travel concern.

eta....Iowa state?

Guess this means the WAC will be whacked.

I doubt it. They just go from basically irrelevant to completely irrelevant.

Maybe Baylor can join and fight for BCS bowls.

I think that is the best thing they could ever do. Get out of that BS WAC conference.

and the folks at La Tech are beginning to wonder whether they'll end up being the Iowa State of the mid majors as the conferences reassemble Wouldn't it be hilarious if they end up in the same conference as ULM?

For a school that campaigned as hard as Tech did to join C-USA during the last realignment? Yeah, it would be pretty funny to see them in the Sun Belt.

With the only viable team out of the WAC, La Tech should go to the Sun Belt, which is where they should be anyway

Hawaii and Fresno were part of the original WAC before it became the 16 team conference that ultimately split -- the haves in the MWC, the have-nots in the WAC. Boise was DI-AA at the time and eventually joined the WAC. I doubt they go back.

If you're the MWC you court like hell the Kansas schools, TT, and Baylor. If they doesn't work out I don't see why you add anyone else.

The likes of Houston, Tulsa, Rice, Fresno, Hawaii I don' think bring that much.

They still need two more teams to make 16......I only say Fresno and Houston because they both can bring in some televisions (obviously they are not the first option in their region but still) and I think they bring more respect on the football field than the kansas schools (for the most part) and Baylor. They want an autobid....I am sure those former big 12 will help but they are for the most part the weakest football programs in that conference (not counting TT). If your going to make it 16.....bring in Fresno and Houston and it is a very respectable football conference that shouldn't be questioned. IMO.

MWC is building itself up to be a basketball powerhouse. Look for Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State, Nevada, Fresno State and for two basketball only invitations to Gonzaga & San Diego to join that conference. Basketball wise this conference would rival the ACC in terms of power. Football wise these schools all make sense.

forgot about them........above average football team and good basketball team. Geographically, Nevada and Fresno make really good sense after the additions of the former big 12 teams.

forget houston.....Nevada makes better sense.

eta...don't see gonzaga leaving the WCC, do they even have a football team?

Gonzaga has been in talks with the MWC conference for two months according to reports. They will be added as a basketball only conference similiar to Marquette in the Big 10.

if the big 12 decides to stay together, the MW will need to look for at least 3 more teams, b/c TCU is likely gone..

Fresno St
Nevada
Hawaii?
