My take is that they don't have to "give" on anything...if enough schools vote the other way, so be it, but there's no reason for them to accept something they don't want, just for the sake of "cooperation".

What strikes me as funny is how Bama fans believe their school has some super secret extra power in a 12-person vote.
That's bullshite, I've seen one person that on this thread that believes that shite.
I'm not saying the shite won't happen, I just believe that Bama & UT will stick to their guns.

No kidding. Bama is nothing special here and count as 1. The same as everyone else.

The question is, who is the 3rd no vote and will they flip. That is all that matters if bama and ut really want to go down this road and not do what is best for the rest of the SEC.
You honestly think it's best for the SEC to fricking bring in Missouri?

No one is saying Bama holds the power to thwart the fricking vote.
Regardless of how the vote ends up, I doubt very seriously that Bama or UT will agree to the vote. That's all most folks are fricking saying.

I can see something like this being said by an LSU fan, who has no real rival. You don't just "let go" of your all-time historical rival. That was a stupid thing to say.
Yes, this can never, ever happen in college football. See Nebraska/OU.

I don't think we have to bring in Missouri RIGHT NOW. We have months before this has to be finalized, and I'm expecting a lot of shuffling to happen later this year and the beginning of '12.
Missouri just seems like we're marrying the first available girl who walks by, instead of finding the right fit.

No Bama fan feels that way, dude. I know you want them to so it can further your own personal hatred for the Tide, but we don't feel that we have a special vote.
That said, when you have more conference championships that the next 2 teams combined, your opinion is certainly listened to at the conference office. Bama's frustration isn't soley due to the UT game. Do any of you actually feel like Mizzou is strong enough that revenue split doesn't suffer a bit at first?
Bama wants a better team to be #14. AU just wants to get it done and get out of division w/ Bama & LSU. Everyone has their motivating factors. Bama's are somewhat selfish on one hand & conference minded on the other. AU's seem to be all about getting out of West (emphasis on seem)

If Auburn moves to the east I could see the following scenario happening regularly.
Auburn and Alabama play the last regular season game of the year
Auburn and Alabama then play the next weekend in the SECCG
Auburn or Alabama loses 2 games in a row to their rival causing mass bedlam among the losing fanbase. Fathers will shoot their families.

Was done by choice by at least one of the two programs. Big difference with ended a rivalry by choice and being forced to end the game.

You are your FACTS...don't you know those have no place here?? This is the SEC Rant...the domain of ill-informed opinions and homerism.

I'd be happy to give up the Iron Bowl and let Bama keep the TN game.

I'd say less of getting out of the west and more of getting in the east. All of our traditional match ups are in the east.

I can agree with this and agree we do not need to be in a hurry. However at the same time too, I believe the due diligence has been done and options considered for a while now. If the powers that be in the SEC want to take Mizzou and take them now, I trust that it is a well vetted decision and I will not argue with it.
I guess my position is:
1. If the SEC extends an invite to Mizzou (which obviously appears to be the case), the analysis of all options has been done, even with a consideration of which teams may be available say a year down the road, and a decision has been made.
2. No team or couple of teams should attempt to stand in the way of what is best for the SEC for reasons of maintaining a single game on an annual basis.

Traditional match ups have no place in the SEC.

Don't hold your breath. Bama does not "give" in the SEC, brother.
Every time a stand needs to be taken in the SEC and make Bama do something good for everyone else and not just for them, Auburn will stand up and try to take that stand. But then (inevitably) everybody else caves.
Just like clock-work. Bama will get it the way that Bama wants it to be. Count on it.
Bama "give"?
