Imagine that. Arkansas can sell out their tickets but aggy tickets to the game in Dallas go begging. Arkansas owns Texas.

Read the posts in the thread that you linked. No one wants to deal with Jerryworld, $40 parking, and $225 tickets.
Quoting an Arlington local who drives a roundtrip of seven hours for all A&M home games:
"I live in Arlington and make all Aggie home games and drive there and back each game day. I haven't been to a game in Jerryworld and have no desire to pay the prices they ask and sit in the 4th level and be a half mile from the field. The stadium is horrible. It's pretentious, too large, seats are a mile from the field, drinks and food outrageously priced, parking fees are a joke. I'm not spending $500 to go to this game. I'll watch from home and have the best view I can get and have no regrets doing so. I've taken tours of the stadium and I knew the I would never to to a game there. Horrible place. If st the cotton bowl, I would have gone. I'm not putting a cent into Jones' pocket."
Quoting "Razorback Russ":
"Here's another factor I haven't seen mentioned yet:
The venue for the game means more to many Hog fans than it probably does to most Aggie fans.
To a lot of Hog fans, going to Dallas is a 'big deal'. They don't get to go very often--maybe not at all, unless there is a bowl game or other sporting event that serves as their primary purpose for being there.
Unless they live in Nortwest Arkansas, DFW is a good ways away (and it's not exactly 'next door', even in NWA).
An opportunity to go to a large, cosmopolitan area like the Metroplex is an opportunity to go spend at least a couple of days and shop, dine at some of the great restaurants in the area, see a few sights, and just generally take in the whole Dallas experience.
It's like a 'grand adventure'/vacation kind of a deal for many of them.
And for some, it may be one of the few times they'll ever have a chance to vist the 'Big D'.
Even for those who have been numerous times, they never seem to tire of returning.
Why? Because the Hogs have TONS of fond memories of Dallas and the Metroplex.
Cotton Bowl memories which go way back, playing basketball games in Reunion Arena when Eddie Sutton and Nolan Richardson were at the top of their coaching games, christmas shopping there, even kids who went there to attend SMU or TCU or other schools in the area...it all adds up.
Hog fans love going there because they've had lots of success there and only a few memories they'd rather forget. A good number of them probably plan vacation time around the Southwest Classic. Others probably scrimp and save during the year, so they'll have enough to at least drive down for the game and stay overnight.
It's not just another ballgame for most Hog fans. It's an exciting event, a chance to see how well 'one of their own' (Jerry Jones) has done, and an opportunity to enjoy Dallas and all that it offers.
For all of these reasons--if they can afford it--Hog fans will turn out in droves, when the opportunity presents itself.
If this makes them 'rubes' or 'hillbillies', so be it. They don't care. They'll still be there to yell and holler, if they can be."

If you want to sit between the endzones and in the first three levels of the stadium, the cheapest tickets to this game are $225 each, so hell fricking no, I am not going to this game. Put it in the Cotton Bowl, cut ticket prices by half, and I would be all over it.

Wow they are making a killing off those prices. $40 for parking, frick that. I don't even pay that at NFL games.

Posted on 9/29/11 at 9:35 pm to bayou2003
Arkansas hasn't sold out their allotment. I just went to Ticketmaster, and there are tickets available all over the Arkansas side.

Yeah its pricey.
I don't think the Arkansas fans who go are going to "visit the big city".
I used to live in Dallas. I know what's there, and I go several times a year.
A better answer is that we aren't used to having a "road game" that is within 5 hours of our fanbase. For many fans, this is the only road game that they can reasonably afford to make.
Plus, when you get done driving 5 hours, you are in Dallas and there's shite to do. Its better than driving 6 hours and being in some small town in Mississippi.
We have a lot of alums in DFW, and probably 25% of our recent freshman classes are from there, too.

A peek at the difference between an SEC mindset and the Aggie mindset.
"shite, that's too expensive!"
vs.
"Oh hell. I'm going to have to sneak in cheaper booze now."

Not surprised at all. Arkansas always travels well to Texas and alumni in DFW. A&M has issues selling out home games unless it's a marquee game.

I think this game will mean more to A&M when they've been in the SEC a few years and realize that only one other road game is within a reasonable driving distance.
No more driving 2 hours to go to a road game.

After you've been to a few 'big' games there, and realize you have spent enough to pay for a couple of trips to Cabo for sone great Marlin fishing, then you might rethink going there. I had a blast at the game against TAMU and againt Oregon, but after paying the enormous sums fortickets, parking and food, not to mention drinks, which are stupid expensive, I'm done with Jerry World for a few years.

I might go next year and stay at the Gaylord Resort in grapevine depending on the game time. Stayed there a couple years back. Tight budget this year

All this means is that not only is aTm incredibly gay, but they are also poor and cheap as frick.
Dammit, who's idea was it to allow the homo hobos into the SEC?

This does not reflect well on our new members.

TejasHorn you must be out of your mind.
At least Aggies stay and support their team even if we lose. Last Year during TX 5-7 season your stadium was half full at half time if your down. What weak bandwagon fans. Aggies sell out or come close to sell out every game. Example two weeks ago with Idaho! And we always stay to the end win or lose! We are loyal Tx have weak fans!

We live across the lake from The Gaylord. Nice place. Too bad its gaining a rep as an upper scale hook up spot for traveling gay businessmen.

One of the owners of texags.com interviewed Arkansas play-by-play man Chuck Barrett today. Barrett thinks that this series is going to go to a home and home series because Arkansas already has to play some home games in Little Rock.
I hope he is right.

+1, I'm over it. The stadium itself is amazing, but the location sucks, everything is overpriced, and the tailgating options around the stadium are mehh.
Those ticket prices for the SWC are outrageous. That much money to watch two 1 loss teams..HELL NO.
