should lose their bcs bid if this happens. seriously this conference would barely be above conference usa or the mtn west.

The Newark Star Ledger said it best last week. Instead of raiding Conference USA, the Big East will be Conference USA.

Since when do DII programs jump to a BCS conference with one phone call? What a joke.

They are 1 aa and a member of the conference already. But, if you mean will they have to go through the 2 yyear Probation, of course. By then Syracuse and Pitt will have served their 27 months

Is the BE gunning for Army and Navy as well?

that would be huge... because it might put ND in play for the BEast too... and then suddenly the BEast is a legitimate conference again.

Air Force historically isn't that bad. They'd probably do slightly better in the Big 12 than Kentucky does in the SEC.

The problem for the Big East is the other teams they're bringing in.

For some reason, the part about AF's other sports being in the Missouri Valley conference is the problem IMO. Really? You play football in a BCS conference but you're other sports are in a conference whose teams I couldn't name in a million years?

Air Force is better than any team the acc took. Air Force beat BYU by 21 last year, beat georgia tech in a bowl, and only lost to oklahoma by 3 in Norman.

Pitt lost by 20 to rutgers saturday, and cuse beat tulane by a fg.

If the BE has both Boise State and WVU, it will be a stronger football conf than before. Losing Pitt/cuse is like losing ole miss/ky.

Air Force isn't that good, and are nowhere near as deep as most teams. They haven't won a meaningful game in November in decades. They'll sneak up on a team occasionally, mostly because they aren't used to facing a triple-option (see OU, Tennessee a few years ago, etc.) but they rarely break through. They lost to a terrible Minnesota team a few years ago.

A decent mid-major team, but they haven't even sniffed a conference title in over a decade. There's no way they'll be competitive in the Big East, and the fans who might have gone to Fort Collins, Laramie or Albuquerque will never be able to make the trips back East.

The only advantage to having Army and Navy in-conference is that it frees up the OOC schedule for more I-AA creampuffs (which is where the service academies really should be playing) like South Dakota and Tennessee State this year.

Not a good move for football, if true, but it would make the other sports (especially basketball, baseball and volleyball, which win a conference game once every few years) much more competitive.

no that would be D3... any school that doesn't want to or can't be competitive in major college sports shouldn't be in D1

Like Tulane and Vandy for example. I see no problem, except geography. I like better than East Carolina for example. Now get Army and Navy.

I never thought TCU would come anyway. Made no sense.

Good move. Bring in Army and Navy. No way the BCS denies the service academies the chance to AQ for the national title.

USA NCAA DB

AF in 2009-2010 brought in 34 Million, 22 of which was government aid and spend 35 Million.

Things that stick out to me: ticket sales are tiny at 4 Million, Royalty is under 1 million and contributions are under 1 million. With a big school those are usually your 3 largest sources of income for the AD.
