The Big has been much to quiet. Reason for caution in our speculation.

WV becoming its own state was more about leaving the rich plantation owners from the tidewater and Richmond area who ran the sate. Most the people in counties that became WV were too poor to even own slaves so slavery wasn't the deciding factor or reason to create its own state, these mountain people thought they could govern themselves better. It was just as much as about state rights as when southern states left the union.
You wouldn't know the difference if you crossed the state line into wv from blacksburg va to warrenton va b/c they culturally are the same

Back away from the ledge, Bronamath. I think it's become readily apparent that it's the academicians who wanted Mizzou to join the B1G. The fans and athletic people wanted the SEC.
Leave it to some jagoff who wouldn't know a first down from a fumble to frick it up for the fans.

That statement is from an unnamed source. Media members with an agenda are pushing it. I believe that the vast majority of Missouri fans are for the SEC. Go read tigerboards.com
I hope that it happens and Missouri comes on board.

After looking into it further, I agree with AU86. This is an ESPN spin job. Trying to derail the process. Let the mizzou fans speak loundly and we'll have a better understanding of the situation.

Good lord! Do you corndogs ever stop drinking? I thought by you being a LSU fan that you would prefer WV.

I Assure you that he was ONE bitter person at Mizzou. That doesnt represent the vast majority that want to join this Conference and no we have absolutely no intention of ditching you guys to go to the Rustbelt Conference. Honestly it really pissed Me off whoever said that. Its just an agenda and ESPN running with it as to keep Missouri in this Terrible Conference.
Nailed it. How many times does this have to be said, it was a move by someone with the motive of undermining Mizzou's move to the SEC.
I will post this again as I ran into the guy again today and asked him to repeat something he told me. He is a high dollar Mizzou contributor. WEEKS ago he was told that the Mizzou academicians favored the B1G, but the athletic department was lock step for the SEC.
Who told him that? I'm not going to tell you. What I will say is that the source was someone at MIzzou who knows a HELL of a lot more about what is going on than anyone on this board or even the douche bag who broke the "story."

Time to speak the truth regarding conference expansion...
ACC - Pathetic football conference with the exception of FSU (SEC could have them if they are patient). VTech is an sold program with Beamer ball (will fall off for a decade when he retires).
Clemson?...seriously?...they had a chance to step up when FSU and Miami fell off and blew it.
Having said that...the ACC is where I feel WVU belongs (getting this out of the way so you don't think that I think WVU belongs in the SEC)...rivalries and location scream ACC for WVU...and lets get over academics because WVU lets everybody (and I mean EVERYBODY) get a shot at an education...because they want to keep people in state after they graduate...so they can tax them....but there are really good programs at WVU...programs that are ranked nationally
PAC 12 - Held the key to "super"conferences and blew it. Their conference is the ACC of the west...USC (see FSU) and Oregon (see VTech). Conference flat out sucks. Shut up Stanford...Drew is leaving soon enough
BIG 10 - Sneaky quiet...Could grab some of the BIG 12 leftovers and be a really solid conference...but they may want Rutgers???????...GTFOH...GERS?...There are more WVU fans in New Jersey than DIE HARD Rutgers fans hahahahah...give me a break with the TV sets tuning into the Rutgers and UCONN football...they watch the SEC on CBS and Notre Dame.
SEC - Man you may really blow it if you take Mizzou from an athletic standpoint...A&M was bad enough (ranked in the top 25 at season end once in the last 10 years??????...and they were 19th?????? Holy shite you just gave Les a game in Texas every other year and chalk the W each year)...now Texas high school athletes can pass A&M up for Texas, LSU, Alabama AND Florida (oh wait they already do). And I didn't even bother looking up information on Mizzou...SEC should be patient because FSU can happen down the road
All in all I seriously quesiton "super"conferences and whether or not they "break away" from the rest...the conferences have been backstabbing each other for decades and now they will work together after they raided each other every 5 years? Meanwhile college football has been the best regular season in sports (well until you lose your first two games then your season's over...or lose your last game of the season)...and they have the worst post season with umpteen exhibition games and a championship game after a 5 week layoff...when it comes to the leaders of this whole mess, I may have more trust in Congress to get anything done...and thats sad.

If I was Missouri I'd want the Big10 More also.
B1G - $22.3M per school in 2010 with only 11 teams and no conference championship game.
SEC - $18.3M per school in 2010 with 12 teams and a championship game.
It's easier to see the B1G has more upside in the money department. Missouri better stop turning their nose up at the SEC because this league is VERY marketable.

Um, the Big 10 is actually the "big 12", they have 12 teams and their first Conference Championship is this year. So Mizzou would make 13 teams. Do you follow football at all?

You are fricking moron.
There has never been B1G financial numbers with 12 teams and a conference championship. Why, simple, because they've yet to play the conference championship game nor have the played a full season with 12 teams. Therefore the numbers don't even exist yet.
The B1G financial numbers with 1 less team and no conference championship were greater than the SEC's.
No shite Missouri would make 13 teams and the money would be so much better than the SEC. We haven't even seen the B1G conference numbers with 12 teams and a conference championship game, why because it hasn't happened but is in the process.
It's the whole reason Mizzou wants the Big10 ahead of the SEC. $$$

Our best options are Mizzou and West Virginia. Gee, I'm having a hard time trying to decide.

They have been quiet because they don't give a shite. They are waiting for the time when Notre Dame runs out of options and happily accepts their pre-approved application to make their conference an even 12 teams.
