U.S. News Rankings are largely horse shite with a nonsensical weighting system which is severely skewed.
Ditto for this statement unless you provide some evidence behind your baseless flippant remark.

Big 10 schools are pretty catty and selfish with regards to AAU membership. Northwestern and its voting block made sure Nebraska was put in its place promptly after joining the Big 10.

True, USN&WR gets criticized and isn't perfect but it at least uses several objective factors like grad rates, ACT/SAT scores, alumni giving, student recruitment acceptance rates, guidance counselers review, etc, etc. The peer academic rep is the one factor that is quite subjective but it doesn't make up that large a part of the rankings.
The American World University rankings are kind of dubious too for the person that suggested using them. Again, heavily dependant on research funding numbers that penalize schools that are stronger in non-technical fields and those without medical research schools. See the fact that UAB is ranked nearly 50 spots higher than Notre Dame in those rankings and tell me again if you find the rankings valid.

Google any combination of US News College Rankings errors and/or flaws and you'll find articles dating back to the 1980's. The jury has been back for years on this item.
