Correct me if I am wrong, but the current BOS was selected by Jindal.

Some were appointed by Jindal, some by the Accidental Governor.

Decided to take a look for myself at the current BOS makeup.

Jindal Appointments: 12
Edwards Appointments: 4

One of Edwards Appointments was first appointed by Jindal and given another term.

There appears to be some political back door B.S. going on and once again, LSU fans may be the loser in this charade.

Not a conclusion, a highly educated guess based upon first hand experience with past LSU coaching hires. I've seen it before. The BOS all believe they know more about football than Vince Lombardi did. The BOS is appointed by the Governor. That idiot had his say, no doubt about it.

Without revealing too much about myself, I am a former university employee who knows how LSU and the LSU system works. Not about athletics, mind you, except where athletics and academics intersect. Here’s what my firsthand experience will tell you about LSU and the BOS:

The BOS has the full legal right to approve hires, separations, to deny hires, and to collect any information pertaining to establishing that the university is compliant with required rules, regulations, and laws. What they generally do NOT do is dictate action, e.g. prescribe whom a university should recruit to hire a vacancy like a faculty member or an athletic department staff. They could provide information or input to a search committee about a candidate insofar as an offer to the prospective hire would be approved or rejected but there is no method to unilaterally steer a search. Again, the BOS could, in whole or part, legally require informational updates of a search process from any employee involved in the search, but it ain’t exactly like they dictate that they be in on every conversation or phone call that takes place.

For instance, does anyone remember that time that Jimbo almost became the HC of UAB? Well, I know a former faculty member of UAB who said that it’s common knowledge that the university nominated Jimbo and submitted him for approval by the Alabama BOS, but they rejected the hire because so many of them were bama alums who didn’t want to green light a hire that could compete with Jimbo on the field or with local recruits (UAB simply didn’t have enough pull with them to get the hire approved, whereas Auburn has more clout and is unlikely to be denied for the same reason). This scenario would not likely occur in Louisiana because our university systems are organized differently.

Additionally, the governor and legislature may be a little too preoccupied with the seemingly never-ending fiscal of the state and the BOS, who are business men and women, may not allot enough of their time and efforts away from their BOS duties and professions to wield all of the power they have in order to personally affect every single step of whatever search takes place.

FlatLakeTiger, just out of curiosity, have you Every had a family member who works for or with the BOS?

TLDR – the notion that the governor, legislature, or BOS are unilaterally influencing the replacement search for the OC is silly and not very likely.

If Coach O knew he was planning to replace Canada since probably in September, why wasn't a solid plan in place to hire the best OC available?

At this point im 99% sure Ensminger is exactly who O wanted all along. And its based on nothing more than a power grab to make sure everyone he has working for him falls in line.

We're not dealing with a rational guy here, so you can't use common sense.

We are dealing with an egotistical maniac, who was awarded a job that he didnt deserve, and its emboldened him to think he is almighty. O knows best, he pretty much said that already. Trust in the O.

I suggested that a former LSU player who has been an NFL OC be hired but that idea was discarded because it was seen as not delivering votes from a certain demographic. So yeah, I've seen BOS members discuss who to hire at LSU. It's not a big club.
