I ask this mainly to the Napier fan boys, who ruin their underpants at the mere mention of his name.

Clawson: 8-0, #9 in playoff rankings, best team in #4 P5 conference and #4 overall conference by ranking. SOS 116, point diff +14.8, RPI #9

Napier: 8-1, UR in playoff rankings, 2nd best team in #2 GO5 conference and #8 overall conference by ranking. SOS 213, point diff +11.8, RPI #25

So I would be underwhelmed too if we hired someone like Clawson, but he'd be a better choice than Napier who isnt even Dominating the GO5.

Cincy Info

ULL Info

The only GO5 coach that we should be considering is Fickell, not some hometown hero that is barley winning Sun Belt games.

I think the more comparable hire to Clawson would be Mark Stoops

Clawson is doing it at Wake Forest in a Power 5, Napier is doing it in the Sunbelt.

Clawson also previously did it at two lower level stops.

Dude is a good coach.

What a dumb take.

Go take a look at where he did it, and the progression of the programs.

Learn some context

The fact that he has Wake Forest in the middle of the playoff hunt is remarkable in itself. I don’t know much about his actual coaching, but I’ve been impressed with his team this year.

To be clear, LSU can do better.

He is a good coach though.

You Napier nuts are unbelievable, Clawson took over 4 horrid programs and rebuilt them! Fordham, Richmond, Bowling Green, and now Wake Forest.

Also 4 conference Championships:
Fordham 02, Richmond 05 and 07, and Bowling Green 13

Napier has one due to Covid and the game not being played! All Im saying yall wanna just hand him this job and in reality there are much more qualified candidates that yall would be pissed at if we hired. Again I just used Clawson as an example.

How is his recruiting. Specifically when it pertains to the South?

“Good ole Boy” Napier would be an atrocious hire for LSU. If SW has a blank check and that’s what he comes up with Tiger fans should show up with torches and pitch forks.

Napier is not a second tier candidate. He is third tier at best.

If Riley, Jimbo, Petersen and Aranda turn us down, you reconsider the Kiffin and Meyer baggage. If not them, then you look at Matt Campbell or Clawson. Then maybe an NFL coach (Rhule, LaFleur) who might be had.

Then you get to Napier.

I like Napier, and I think he’s a good coach, but he gives me a lot of Hudspeith vibes. Just not sure he can do it at LSU. Kinda like what’s happened to Justin Fuentes since leaving Memphis.

He’s obviously not a bad coach for having wake where they are right now, but why haven’t they been doing it since 2016? His best record was 8-5 before this year

Because the program was a complete dumpster fire when he to over. As have all the ones he took over have been, at the time he was hired..

Go take a look at Saban's first 4ish years at MSU. They were not particularly good.

Clawson is not Saban or anywhere close. But it takes time when you are at a dumpster fire school that has no history of success whatsoever.

he is a good coach. LSU can do better but he is a very good coach.
