Born in Indiana, graduated from Indiana University, coached there twice.

Also coached at Butler, Northern Illinois, and Wisconsin.

Everyone knows Pitt and NC State.

The furthest south he's gone is North Carolina, and he got fired in that gig. Aside from 3 years at NC State he didn't work south of the Mason Dixon line for 21 years. Why would he come to LSU besides money?

Can we count on a guy like Canada to fit in in the deep south and recruit?

Born south of Mason Dixon line. Had coaching experience with the Houston Oilers, Navy in Maryland.

Just a very different career trajectory. Multiple NFL stints. Never coached at the same place twice, Canada has coached at Indiana and Northern Illinois in two stints a piece.

Why? Just locking down all the best prospects in Louisiana seems to be a task at times.

The same reasons Aranda came to LSU

I don't think LSU should let recruiting ability factor too much into their OC search. After all, that's basically O's only job.

Aranda hasn't been exclusively in a specific geographic location like Canada, and Aranda has coached at Texas Tech, Houston, Hawaii. Extremely different circumstances.

Aranda was coaching in Texas within the first 5 years of his career.

It clearly made a difference with Chavis, and half the people here would have you think the only difference between LSU and Bama is talent.

You make an excellent point.

If offered, Canada would probably turn down both Bama and LSU because he doesn't feel comfortable coaching south of the Mason Dixon Line.

Why do you mention this in all your canada threads? I don't understand what that has to do with this discussion.

Did he get fired because he couldn't recruit or his offense was bad? The answer to both of those are no.

I agree that his lack of recruiting ties is a knock on him, but i think he would be just fine based on the types of offenses he runs. They fit in well at LSU, and would allow our offensive stars tl shine. Also, i thought the big appeal to O was he is the "best 'cruiter in the country." If the offense is clicking the 'cruits should be coming.

I haven't seen any indication that this is remotely true. I mean if it's your opinion that's fine, but i haven't seen any evidence to support that theory. Do you have any links you could send me on this?
