Dude is like O and forever against top 5 opponents at ND and like 3-8 vs top 10 teams. Tell us you dont ever want to win big games without telling us you dont want to ever win big games. People should be banned just for mentioning his name as they lose all credibility and should have their College football Card revoked. Do y'all even football?

Who AVAILABLE has a great record against such teams besides Dabo, Saban, and (maybe) Kirby Smart?

Kelly has won everywhere he has been. His top 10 losses at ND are to:

Alabama - 2x
Clemson - 2x
Florida St. (in 2014)
Georgia
Ohio St.
Stanford

The teams that win championships year after year also are the teams that routinely rank highly in recruiting. ND has talent. But they also have restrictions the other public schools don't have to deal with. Or in other words, there are guys that Alabama, Georgia, Clemson can sign that Kelly can't at ND. He's been to the NC game and/or playoffs three times. Yet, he can't get over the hurdle...just like Lincoln Riley. Perhaps ALL he's missing is the talent pool he just can't access at ND...but could at LSU

You can be the greatest HC in the world. But at some point if you don't have the horses to win there is not much you can do. LSU clearly provides the talent pool to win big. Just look at Orgeron. In eight years as a HC he's had only 3 winning seasons. One of those was one of the greatest seasons in CFB history. Is it because Ed is a much better HC than a guy like Kelly? Or is it that LSU had so much talent it could overcome the shortcomings of an otherwise terrible HC?

LSU is not getting Dabo, Saban, or Smart. So of the guys may actually be available there are not many who have a better resume than Kelly

Brian Kelly's Two Big Flaws Were Exposed By Cincinnati

quote:

This game was indicative of what has kept Brian Kelly from taking the Notre Dame program to the next level. It's his inability to get his teams ready to play in "big games" and his unwillingness to properly identify and address coaches that are falling short. Those two "issues" go hand in hand.

quote:

Over the last five seasons (2017-21) the Irish have gone 47-9, which is a really, really good mark. The 2-6 mark against opponents ranked in the Top 10 during that stretch .... not so much.

quote:

What we have seen in recent seasons is Notre Dame no longer losing to unranked teams, it doesn't lose to inferior teams anymore, but teams with equal or similar talent continue to beat Notre Dame.

quote:

It's also not a "Clemson and Alabama problem," as the Irish are just 12-7 against opponents not named Clemson or Alabama, and 1-4 against Top 10 opponents not named Clemson or Alabama.

So he is like Orgeron, hires bad coaches and because he is hard headed (Miles / Orgeron), he refuses to do anything about it.

quote:

For all the good that Kelly has done to get Notre Dame out of the wilderness of mediocrity in which it roamed for 20 years, its his refusal to make some tough decisions on his coaching staff, or perhaps unwillingness to recognize the problems, that has kept this program from taking the big final step.
