Tennessee wide recievers coach to coach running backs? Not saying it is wrong, but is this a common thing to do?

ETA: I think he recruited fairly well at Southen Miss so that may not be a bad thing. I'm not to sure about his tenure at Tennessee.

He's a RB's coach coaching WR's. He was a RB and has coached RB's everywhere else he has been.

gotta believe he will be a great recruiter for us. he knows louisiana and the gulf area. also don't forget kiffin wanted his coaching staff to be full of fantastic recruiters--gotta believe wilson impressed him in that area by being hired.

wison is a good hire- he was head coach at o.p. walker before katrina and at just 2? years old , his team beat john curtis. was a.d. of all nola schools and did a good job there. was courted by saban to go on the LSU staff and after three of his players picked & signed w/ LSu, saban did not hire him. ole miss hired him when coach o got there and he did a good job, was a usm for one year and got jantzen jackson to sign with tn. will help us recruit, as well as porter

I don't know anything about Wilson, but I hope he is actually a good football coach. Are we struggling so much in SLA recruiting that we would hire somebody JUST because he can lock down New Orleans? I mean, it's fricking New Orleans, 70 miles east of campus.

Well more than likely if we add him we can pencil in Freak Johnson, but what I don't like is i don't see Wilson staying put for more than a year. So I think we will be searching for a RB coach again next year or the year after.

Where's he gonna go? His moves have always been for better jobs. So you either think he's going to get a position coach job at Texas, USC, or Florida or an OC job somewhere? If either of those happens it means he did one hell of a job here and we had a great season, in which case I'd tip my cap and tell him "thanks." The program will survive having to find another RB coach in a year or 2.
