I can almost guarantee he was offered the job.. Brandon was there for 3 hours last night they weren't discussing the weather ;)

No way the Michigan AD, who is a good friend of Les, comes all this way just to talk ! I think he said no right off and then Brandon came for a face to face with his friend to try and change his mind and failed.

I doubt Brandon flew to Baton Rouge just for the crawfish.

I'll say this...if Michigan's AD came all the way to BR just to appease the fans who won't like it when the hire Hoke, Michigan is in bigger trouble than they know right now.

I think this is a very probable situation.. Brandon thought he could change his mind and he couldn't congratulations on keeping your coach and I hope you guys appreciate him more in the future because looks like he is going to be here for the rest of his career.

This

As a Michigan fan, the only time I remember feeling more sad about our program was the day Bo died.

This is just unreal after the mess in 07. If we hire Hoke, MSC & Dave both need to be fired.

Why? Hoke is going to be a good one. I think all parties win in this scenario (LSU & Michigan)

They will probably say they were getting Miles' input as an alum and a successful coach. Either that or they will just not address it. One thing is certain, they will say their hire was the only person they really considered and bla bla bla

The job was offered, sweetened and offered again multiple times through secondary representatives.

Miles said no a few times and then UM threw the bank at him. That is what caused the "meeting" to happen.

Here is how this works:

Michigan was not going to officially offer until Michigan and Miles agreed to all terms. What took place last night was the negotiation of these terms. They never agreed, so, officially, Michigan never offered.

This helps Michigan save face. If they would have officially offered, it would have meant that Miles had already informally agreed.

This allows ESPN to run with their clip last night about "Miles would accept if offered," because, while misleading, it's technically correct.

Exactly, this is how it's worked for me with prospective employers. We have loose negotiations and if we can agree on the basic terms I would be sent an official offer letter.

Whoever gets the job, I wish you and the UM FB program well (so long as UM and LSU don't meet on the gridiron, of course) - it's boooring stranded here in NE Ohio watching Michigan get owned every year by tOSU and its sweater vest.

IF Hoke is the hire, perhaps he can stabilize the hot mess RR, Carr and the Athletic Department have left in their collective wake ... and while he's trying to bring in recruits to fit UM style FB, adapt and maximize the talent he currently has to work with for a better, more promising season in 2011.

So, good luck ... sometimes things can stabilize and round the bend to better days quicker than anyone could have imagined!
