Interesting tidbit in this article by Moscona. LINK

quote:

Reports surfaced Monday that Dave Aranda was being pursued by Texas A&M, and there also are reports that the Green Bay Packers – who interviewed Aranda in 2015 – will target Aranda as a potential replacement for outgoing defensive coordinator Dom Capers.

Think this is a bigger worry than A&M was.

Maybe that’s why he turned down Texas A&M

Damn it. Just leave him alone for one more year.

I do not trust Orgy to catch lightning in a bottle like Les did with Aranda...

Why didn't he get it in 2015?

I think this is what he is waiting on (aka NFL Coordinator spot)

It would be just like our luck to land K. Briles, lose Aranda, and O replace Aranda with a worthless DC.

Hell I wouldn't be surprised if he would announce "I AM THE DC".

If they offer him he's gone. He's publicly said he aspires to be a DC in the NFL.

Absolutely. That was a lateral transfer with more work as it tries to re-build. NFL would be the promotion he's been vocal about wanting.

If this has any merit, he's gone.

Our best hope is that Green Bay is in “win-now” mode with a veteran team. That may nudge them toward a proven NFL guy. But if it were me, I would look past that. Aranda is a potential star, even at that level. Let’s hope that GB’s GM isn’t brave and takes the path of lease resistance.

I wouldn't want to work for Orgeron. He's a buffoon and interferes with everybody. We now know you can't make your assistants smarter than your boss.

What has Aranda ever done that makes anyone think he will get an NFL defensive coordinator job?

He has never coached in the NFL, not even as an intern. I don't know of a single college DC, with no NFL experience, that has ever been hired as an NFL DC.

Could it happen? Sure, but NFL teams do not generally look to college for their coordinator hires. And when they do, that person has NFL experience or some other connection.

People parrot this "Aranda's goal is to be an NFL DC" however I have never heard him actually say that.

If that is his goal, he's going about it wrong.

I personally think his goal is to make a lot of money, and he appears to be doing a good job of that now. He would take a pay cut in the NFL.

As much as I'd hate to see him leave I can't wait to see what he can do with a NFL defense

If true, this is good because it speeds up the process of getting rid of Orgeron.

Yeah they will, and he will jump at the opportunity in .2 seconds so as to not stain his reputation by being attached to 0.

When did hI say this? I’m not questioning your post, I’d just never heard that.
