Why not Crowton? He's been a head coach at two different Div 1 schools. Pelini was interim head coach for 1 game, no other experience.

Pelini has been here as long as Miles, Crowton has been here 11 games.

So we hire our coaches, or interim coaches, by seniority??? I guess that Joe Paterno should be at the top of our new coach list because he's been coaching college football the longest.

Maybe the fact that we have had top 5 defenses every year he has been here?

Kind of thought you would just assume that.

I'd take a guy with 2 head coaching stops over the never been a head coach guy, even if it is just for one game.

By the way, that top 5 defense this year is only there because of the dominant first 4 games, which came against teams that aren't very good offensively. I think we have alot of injuries there, but that would mean that the defensive coordinator would have to coach some lesser talented guys instead of just rolling out Saban's recruits (did I just say Saban's recruits??, well I sure know that Pelini didn't recruit them)

Well, this would be an interim deal for 1 game, so his experience makes him infinitely more qualified to do that than Crowton. Also, he's been there longer, knows the players better, supposedly all the players love him, and he seems to be more passionate. I'd definatley want him giving the pregame talk over Crowton. The more I think about it, the more I think Miles, even if he is going, is gonna coach the the NCG. I think the players love him that much where they would not feel betrayed, and it could actually bring them all together to go out and kick arse. This appears to be a special team led by a bunch of special Seniors, and I just don't think they're gonna allow this NC to get derailed by anything.

Choupique19 Why would you hire a coach who has been fired twice as a head coach? that's why he is an OC now. Pelini would get the interim HC because he has been with the players longer.

Crowton wasn't fired by La. Tech. He got an opportunity to be an OC in the NFL.

He was not fired twice as a head coach, only at BYU. Of course, BYU has not improved since he left, so maybe it wasn't him. Heck, Joe Torre was fired from at least two head coaching gigs before he went to New York.

I just don't think that Pelini would be a great head coach, but if it's just one game, I guess it doesn't really matter. The fact that he has been here for 3 years may be the deciding issue. I could have been wrong.

It would be Crowton. Pelini would prefer the freedom to pursue the Nebraska job. Plus Crowton has had far more HC experience. But serious, Pelini is in line to get his own HC gig and this would be a distraction for him.
