Why was the "search" limited to three coaches?

Alleva limited the search to two highly coveted candidates who were going to be pursued by premiere programs and an Ole Miss retread that no one else wants to hire.
He has had two months since the firing of Miles. Why didn't he vet and reach out to the broad gamut of other potential candidates?
Of all the failings here, that seems to be the most conspicuous. AND I'm having a hard time conjuring up a compelling or persuasive rationale for it.

It wasn't.
Hard to imagine how many coaches had to say no before LSU gives the job to Ed Orgeron.
This says that no proven head coach had any faith in this administration.

I'm basing my analysis on publicly known fact, but if you have some "sources" regarding the other coaches we met with and offered the job to, I'll await your enlightenment.
