Why is this team performing at such a high level?

I think this question need be answered before we make up our mind about Coach O being the HC going forward.
Is it due to "addition by subtraction"? imo, our former OC was a cancer to the concept of team (no proof). I also believe that Miles did not hold him accountable due to his friendship (he was the teachers pet) . getting rid of them allowed the other members of the staff to heal and get all of the coaches on the same page. this enabled the players to come together as a team and also refocus their efforts to one goal; winning football games.
Is it due to Coach O's efforts? Is he the driving force behind the staff and players coming together and becoming a team. football is indeed a team sport and we have some serious talent on this team.
maybe it's both. but if there was NO dissension on the staff or team before he took over we need to give credit where it's due. if the former question is true then I don't think we should overvalue what O has done. we, as rank and file fans may never be able to answer this question but Alleva certainly is in a position to.
I like Coach O a lot (not because of his accent; sorry), but I am skeptical of his ability to continue this success going forward. there are other coaches that I am at least as skeptical about. if Coach O gets the job, I damn sure will support him though.

I do think it has helped to lessen the physical nature of practice, and to just be half-way creative on offense.
But, one thing to keep in mind on Coach O taking over and "setting offensive records" is that our opponents had basically very little game film on what we'd do after Cam was shown the door. Plus, Cam may have been hogtied by Miles or, worse, a crappy play caller; but that does not mean he did not have offensive precision taught in practice.
As guys who have had to follow Petrino know, his precision and hard-nosed commitment to perfection in practice just could not be duplicated by the follow up staff longer term. My point is, Ensminger is doing a better job of play calling, but may very well be benefitting from all of the grunt work Cam Cameron oversaw in installing his offensive scheme.

Yep. I like coach O and hope him the best.
That said if Jimbo says he wants the job then give it to the man , Herman is going to Texas so he is out of the question at this point it seems.
If Jimbo says no then I would stay with O. Did his stay at Ole Miss end nightmarish? Yes.
Since that time he has coached under many great head coaches and both levels and seems to have picked up valuable knowledge from them.
Hell even Bill Belicheck was fired from the Browns 20 something years ago. Can you imagine if he were never given another shot?
As shitty as Kiffin was as a head coach at multiple stops he is even being considered as a possibility at some places.

True but who says Ensminger will be the OC going forward?
O has already said he would like to run an offense similar to the USC offenses while he was there.
He had to do with what he has at this point there were no big time OCs to be hired mid season, and no way to implement a new scheme either.

The offense is performing well against terrible defenses.

Belichick still has the last playoff win in Browns history.
O has one of the worst winning percentages ever in the SEC.

if he did, it certainly didn't translate to the games. he couldn't even get the play call in. maybe it was miles interference but at some point he should have confronted him. but this is beating a dead horse. my point is "how much credit do we give coach O"? this team is playing like a champion. if we could improve the offense we could be a force going forward if the new Coach O is for real.
